SOFTBALL SPLITS DAY AT ORLANDO REBEL GAMES

March 16, 2007

DAYTON, Ohio -  The University of Dayton softball team split the day picking up a loss to University of Wisconsin - Green Bay (4-2) and a win against Colgate (4-2) in the final day of the Orlando Rebel Games on Friday. The Flyers are now 3-5 on the season - all on the road.

In game one, Dayton got on board in the sixth behind a Blair Crabtree double. Tamsyn Kellough stepped up to plate to blast an RBI triple to put UD on board. After Laura Matthews was hit by a pitch, the Flyers got a second run on an error by the third baseman.

Christine Eggers and Kellough both added triples in game one, hitting 1-for-4 and 1-for-2 respectively. Fellow teammate Crabtree was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double. But it wasn't enough as Dayton fell short losing 4-2.

Pitcher Chelsea Grozenski suffered the loss.

In game two against Colgate, Dayton staked a 1-0 lead in the first inning scoring runs in the second and fourth to take the game.

Freshman pitcher Eva Rappe got her first collegiate win with four strikeouts.

Eggers went 1-for-1 and was walked three times. Molly Meyer hit 2-for-4. Crabtree also went 2-for-4 with a double. Ellie Malchow was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double of her own. The 4-2 win against Colgate closed out the week long Orlando Rebel Games.

Dayton will return home to play against the Wright State Raiders in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 20. Game times are set for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET.
