The University of Dayton softball team has cancelled the Sixth Annual Fairfield Inn Flyer Invitational, March 4-6 due to weather concerns. The tournament will not be rescheduled.

Dayton (2-2) is coming off a second place finish at the Eastern Kentucky University Softball Tournament. The Flyers defeated Youngstown State and IUPUI to advance to the Championship Game last weekend. UD then fell to 2004 NCAA Tournament participant Eastern Kentucky.

The Flyers return to action next Saturday as they host Eastern Michigan in a doubleheader at 1 pm. The doubleheader will serve as Dayton's home opener at it's new UD Arena Softball Stadium.

"Our team is ready and can't wait to start playing on the new field," said Jodi Eickemeyer. "We have seen our field materialize from a patch of dirt to a gorgeous softball stadium. It has been exciting to watch the transformation of the field over the past seven months. When it is all said and done we will have one of the premier softball facilities in the State of Ohio."
