FLYERS PERFORM WELL AT GLADSTEIN INVITATIONAL

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Dayton women’s track and field team fared well at the Gladstein Invitational, with a number of new personal records being set by the Flyers on the weekend.

Kelsey McDonald finished third in the 600 meter run. McDonald’s mark of 1:38.67 was fourth all-time on Dayton’s all-time performance list in the event.

Aly Weeman set a new personal record in the weight throw. Weeman placed 10th with a throw of 16.71m (54-10.00).

In the pentathlon on Friday, Hilary Lang moved to second all-time in UD history. Lang scored 3,152 in her combined events. Erin Baldinger also set a new personal record in the pentathlon with a score of 3,007.

Sarah Reynolds and Marisa Slomski both set new personal records in the 5k. Slomski finished eighth with a time of 18:10.26, while Reynolds finished in 18:23.32. Elissa Mason set a new personal record in the mile run with a time of 5:05.13. Hanna Krizmanic vaulted her way into fourth all-time at UD with a mark of 12-00.50.

The women’s 4x400 team consisting of Maya Pedersen, Kelsey McDonald, Cassie Grandstaff and Rachel Weber finished in 3:55.91. That time ranks fourth on UD’s all-time performance list.

Dayton will travel back to Bloomington next weekend for the Indiana Relays on Jan. 27 and 28.




Event Roundup


Pentathlon
Maddi Schmidt placed seventh in the pentathlon, scoring 2,625 points. Hilary Lang was 10th with 2,475, while Erin Baldinger placed 12th with 2,356 points.

Shot Put
Christine Borchers was Dayton’s top performer with a distance of 12.57m / 41-03.00. Miranda Nelson set a new personal record with a throw of 12.43m / 40-09.00.

400 Meter Dash

Rachel Weber placed sixth with a time of 58.13. Maya Pedersen set a new personal mark, clocking in at 59.41. Her previous best was set last weekend at the Doug Raymond, in which she ran the 400 in 59.61.

60 Meter Dash Prelims

Cassie Grandstaff was UD’s top performer with a time of 7.99. Ashley Demange clocked in at 8.08, while Rabecca Maj finished in 8.46, which was a new collegiate personal record.

Pole Vault
Katrina Steinhauser and Hanna Krizmanic tied for fourth in the pole vault. Steinhauser and Krizmanic cleared 3.67m / 12-00.50. The mark is a new best for Krizmanic. Sarah Gaskell placed 10th with a height of 3.37m / 11-00.75.

60 Meter Hurdles Prelims
Rabecca Maj was UD’s only competitor in the hurdles, and narrowly missed qualifying for the finals on Saturday. Maj had a time of 9.35 on Friday.

3000 Meter Run

Lizzie Gleason was Dayton’s lone competitor in the 3000 meter invitational. Gleason had a time of 10:10.99.

High Jump
Ellie Grandi was UD’s top performer in the high jump with a mark of 5-01.00 (1.55m). Juliana Lawniczak also cleared 5-01.00. Katy Garcia rounded out the group with a height of 4-11.00 (1.50m). It was Lawniczak’s best mark of the early season.

One Mile Run Invitational

Elissa Mason had a time of 5:05.13 to place 10th in the mile run invitational.

One Mile Run
Nicole Cargill finished seventh in the mile run. Cargill had a time of 5:17.72. Katie Ollier cross the line in 5:22.10.

5000 Meter Run
Marisa Slomski finished eighth with a time of 18:10.26. Sarah Reynolds clocked in at 18:23.32, while Mary List finished in 18:55.27.

200 Meter Dash
Rachel Weber finished 11th with a time of 26.23. Ashley DeMange was 14th out of the 44 person field, she clocked in at a time of 26.31.

Weight Throw

Aly Weeman set a new personal record and placed 10th with a throw of 16.71m (54-10.00) in the weight throw. Renee Otte tied her season-best with a toss of 14.46m (47-05.25). Miranda Nelson reached 13.46m (44-02.00).

Long Jump
Katy Garcia jumped 4.69m (15-04.75).

600 Meter Run
Kelsey McDonald finished third in the 600 meter run and moved into fourth on UD’s all-time performance list in the event. McDonald crossed the line in 1:38.67. Kassy Thomas was eighth at 1:40.33 and Chelsey VanHook was ninth finishing in 1:40.33.

800 Meter Run
Kelly Johnston led the pack for UD in the 800 meter run. Johnston ran the 800 in 2:22.28. Lauren Clark crossed the line in 2:23.76. Megan Collins rounded out the group with a time of 2:27.02.

4x800 Relay
The quartet of Lizzie Gleason, Salena Clohisy, Nicole Armstrong and Kelly Johnston clocked in at a time of 9:41.41.

4x400 Relay

UD closed out the meet with a strong performance in the 4x400. The grouping of Maya Pedersen, Kelsey McDonald, Cassie Grandstaff and Rachel Weber finished in 3:55.91 which is fourth all-time on Dayton’s performance list. The Flyers secondary team of Mariah Curtis, Chelsey VanHook, Kassy Thomas and Lauren Clark finished in 4:06.60.
