VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS RHODE ISLAND IN A-10 ACTION

-  Freshman Kortney Norris tallied 18-kills Sunday afternoon as Dayton beat Rhode Island, 3-0 (30-19, 31-29, 30-20) in an Atlantic 10 match at Keaney Gymnasium.

The Flyers evened their record at 9-9 and are now 3-1 in Atlantic 10 play with their fourth consecutive victory overall. The Rams fell to 5-11 overall, 0-3 in A-10 action.

Norris had her third consecutive match with at least 10 kills and her 10th in the last 11 overall as she hit .359 with a match-high 18 kills. In three matches this week, Norris averaged 16 kills per match.

Overall, UD dominated URI with a .298 to .102 lead in hitting percentage as well as a 52-35 advantage in kills.

Sophomore Robynne Green hit .588 with 11 kills, three blocks and a service ace as the only other Flyer to record double-digits kills.

Senior Nicole Schott paced the Flyers on both side of the ball as she had match-highs of 37 assists and eight digs.

Dayton struck from the service line as well with 10 service aces to Rhode Island's three. Sophomore Adrienne Green led the way with four aces to go along with four digs. She was followed by freshman Erin Schroeder with three aces and seven digs. Classmate Brittney Scheeringa had two service aces of her own while also tallying six digs on the day.

UD is now halfway through a four-match road trip which continues next week in Cincinnati. Dayton will face A-10 rival Xavier on Friday at 7 p.m.
