NO. 17 DAYTON DOMINATES TO EARN 25TH WIN OF THE SEASON

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio
-  No. 17 Dayton rolled to a 3-0 (30-18, 30-20, 30-28) sweep of Youngstown State on Saturday in non-conference volleyball action. With the win, the visitors improved to 25-1 overall this season entering Sunday's meeting with Cleveland State at 1 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the match live at www.DaytonFlyers.com.

Senior Jamie-Lee Richards celebrated her 21st birthday with 10 kills and a season-high seven service aces as UD tallied a season-high 16 service aces.

Redshirt freshman Lindsay Fletemier paced the Flyers by hitting .647 with 13 kills and five blocks for the Flyers, which held a 6.0 to 5.0 blocking advantage at the net.

Overall, Dayton out hit Youngstown State .322 to .189 behind 45 assists from Erin Schroeder.

Senior Adrienne Green and sophomore Chelsy Christoff combined for a Flyer defense that collected 53 digs. Green posted 19 while Christoff finished with 10 digs and two service aces for Dayton, which improved upon the best record in the nation.

Junior Kortney Norris had 11 kills while Bethany Akerhielm added eight kills while hitting at a .471 clip with four service aces in the win.

The Flyers started with a 30-18 win in game one behind five kills each by Bethany Akerhielm and Kortney Norris as well as four from Jamie-Lee Richards. Chelsy Christoff posted six digs while Norris and Adrienne Green had five each as UD out hit YSU .405 to .200 and had a 5-1 advantage in service aces.

Dayton kept the momentum in game two because of a strong effort by Jamie-Lee Richards at the service line. With the Penguins ahead 5-4, Richards stepped to the service line and picked up a service ace on the first of nine straight points started by the senior. A YSU attack error was followed by two straight kills from Lindsay Fletemier. After another Youngstown State attack error, Richards rattled off three consecutive service aces to put the Flyers ahead 12-5 en route to a 30-20 victory in game two.

UD trailed by as many as six at 27-21 before a late rally salvaged the sweep for the Flyers. Erin Schroeder and Lindsay Fletemier each recorded a kill to jump start the Dayton offense. Then a pair of YSU attack errors and a service ace by Bethany Akerhielm got UD within one at 27-26. After the teams traded points, Schroeder evened the score at 28-all with Dayton's 16th service ace of the match. Kills by Fletemier and Kortney Norris finished off a 3-0 sweep of the Penguins for the Flyers.
