DAYTON, Ohio – No. 12 Dayton will conclude the 2010 regular season on Friday with a trip to Athens, Ohio to face Ohio, which earned an NCAA Tournament automatic bid by winning the Mid-American Conference Tournament last week. The match begins at 7 p.m. ET, from Ohio’s Convocation Center.

Dayton (26-3) tied the highest ranking in program history at No. 12 after capturing a sixth Atlantic 10 Tournament title last weekend, sweeping Xavier in the finals in Cincinnati. The same four Flyers were named to the A-10 All-Tournament Team and A-10 First Team All-Conference, including two-time Player of the Year Lindsay Fletemier, Setter of the Year and tourney MVP Jessica Yanz, Student-Athlete of the Year Becky Novacek, and Amanda Cowdrey.

Atlantic 10 Co-Coach of the Year Kelly Sheffield has led Dayton to 17 consecutive weeks in the top 25. The Flyers bring the fourth-longest winning streak in the nation into Friday’s match at 21 matches.

The Bobcats (21-11) won a third consecutive MAC Tournament title last weekend by sweeping all three matches as the No. 2 seed. Ohio has earned eight consecutive NCAA Tournament bids and currently holds a No. 78 ranking in the NCAA RPI. Outside hitter Sue Jacobi and middle Katie Post were named First Team All-MAC, setter Michelle Jantsch was selected to the Second Team and middle Lexie Hartnett was named to the All-Freshman team.

The Flyers and the Bobcats have three opponents in common this season. Both swept Virginia Commonwealth and Pittsburgh, while UD swept the MAC’s Western Michigan and Ohio lost the Broncos in straight sets.

It is the thrid consecutive season that Dayton and Ohio have met to conclude the regular season.

With the A-10’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and a No. 10 NCAA RPI ranking, the Flyers will anticipate its placement in the 64-team field on Sunday, 3-3:30 p.m. ET on ESPNEWS.
