PHILADELPHIA -  Junior middle blocker Faye Barhorst earned the inaugural Atlantic 10 Volleyball Player of the Week award Monday. She has now won the award five times in the past two seasons after garnering A-10 Rookie of the Week honors six times in 2003.

Barhorst has led the Flyers to a 3-3 record this season entering Tuesday night's match at Bowling Green (7 p.m.). She leads UD in hitting percentage (.392), kills per game (3.75), blocks per game (1.70) and points (96.5). Barhorst has hit .500 or better in three of six matches this season and matched her career-high with 10 block assists in Dayton's season-opening win against Bradley. She also posted a season-best 26 kills against the Braves. Barhorst was named the MVP of the Pepsi Challenge on the opening weekend of the season and to the All-Invitational Team at the Aquafina Volleyball Invitational last weekend.

The Fort Loramie, Ohio native garnered AVCA All-America honors last season while also being named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference and All-Tournament teams. She led the A-10 and ranked 28th nationally in both hitting percentage and blocks per game.

After the Bowling Green match Tuesday night, Dayton hosts the Marriott Flyer Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Frericks Center. The Flyers host a four-team field including Mississippi State, Indiana State and Virginia.
