#24 DAYTON TAKES ON VANDERBILT SUNDAY

The Flyers Travel To Nashville For Weekend Match Up

The No. 24 Dayton women's basketball team continues its grueling schedule this Sunday when they take on Vanderbilt (3-2) at 3 p.m. ET. The Commodores will be the third opponent this season that is ranked or receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches' Polls.

The other two opponents were Iowa (4-1), a team right outside the Top 25, receiving votes, and No. 21/19 Michigan State (3-1). The Flyers lost both those games to the Big Ten opponents in overtime after having a lead in the final minute.

FLYER FACTS
- UD has been ranked in at least one of the polls for 21 consecutive weeks.
-   All five Flyer starters are averaging double figure scoring.
-   Junior Ally Malott leads UD in scoring (17.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg) followed closely by junior Andrea Hoover who averages 17.0 ppg and 6.8 rpg. Sophomore Amber Deane puts up 16.8 ppg and 6.5 rpg.
-  Malott also leads the Flyers in blocked shots with 6.
-  Sophomore Kelley Austria leads the team in steals with 8.
-  The Flyers average 91.2 ppg in their up-tempo offense.

SCOUTING VANDERBILT
The Commodores are 3-2 overall going into the game and are coming off two straight losses, including an 88-69 setback to No. 2/2 Duke on the road. Senior Christina Foggie has already scored 100 points this season and is averaging 20l.0 ppg. Freshman Kylee Smith leads Vanderbilt on the boards with 5.2 rpg and sophomore Heather Bowe adds 5.0 rpg. The guard-oriented Commodores have four players that have accumulated double-digit assists this season. Vanderbilt averages 80.0 ppg.

-  Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 4-1 over the Flyers.
-  The University of Dayton women's basketball team defeated Vanderbilt 71–66 on Nov. 18, 2012 at UD Arena. The Flyers were led by Andrea Hoover's team high 14 points. Amber Deane and Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova each had 12 points and eight rebounds. UD outrebounded the Commodores by a 46-34 margin. The Flyers took the lead with eight minutes remaining in the game to secure their fourth straight victory of the season.
-  Dayton's 71-66 win over No. 13 Vanderbilt on Nov. 18, 2012 marked the second time that the Flyers defeated a ranked opponent during the 2012 season.
-  The Flyers are 0-2 when playing the Commodores in Nashville.

LAST TIME OUT
The #23/21 ranked University of Dayton women's basketball team traveled to #19/20 Michigan State and suffered a 96-89 overtime loss to the Spartans on Sunday, Nov. 17.  Four Flyers reached double figures, including junior Andrea Hoover who led all scorers with a career high of 25 points. Junior Ally Malott recorded her second consecutive double-double with 19 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Sophomore Amber Deane also recorded a double-double, with 12 points and a career-high 10 assists.  Senior Cassie Sant was next in scoring with 12 points. This game marked the fourth consecutive time that the Flyers have had four or more players score in double figures.  
 
UP NEXT
The Flyers play at Central Michigan Thursday, Dec. 5. UD's next home game is Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. vs. Washington State. It will be the Flyers' alumnae game with a pre-game reception and halftime reception of former UD women's basketball players.
