The co-ed Dayton cheerleading sqaud performing a stunt at a basketball gameLed by coach Kristina Sucher, the University of Dayton cheerleading program embodies the integrity and excellence that define the university. The program is committed to upholding high standards of performance and professionalism, and every Flyer cheerleader is expected to reflect these values at all times.

Cheer team members proudly represent the University of Dayton both at home and on the road, promoting school pride, boosting spirit, and fostering a strong sense of community. While the demands of training, preparation, and game-day responsibilities can be rigorous, members are expected to fully commit by attending all scheduled practices, games, summer camp, and other required events.

The cheerleading program consists of two teams. The coed team includes both coed partners and all-girl stunt groups, cheering at all home football games and men’s home basketball games. The all-girl team, made up of all-girl stunt groups, cheers for select home volleyball games and all women’s home basketball games. Both teams travel to the A-10 tournaments and NCAA postseason events.

Practice is a serious commitment. The team holds practices twice a week, with additional strength and conditioning sessions led by a coach on two separate days. Tumbling sessions are also held once a week before practice to improve skills and technique.

UD cheer team members are well-rounded individuals who balance their commitment to cheerleading with other interests. Many hold jobs, participate in Greek life, or engage in various campus organizations. Community involvement and volunteer service are also encouraged, fostering personal growth, expanding knowledge, and reinforcing the value of serving others. Despite the demands of the team and extracurricular activities, academics remain the top priority, and members are expected to maintain strong academic standing.

Dayton cheerleaders are not eligible for athletic scholarships but may qualify for academic scholarships. For more information, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.Â
