WBB FACES GEORGE MASON WEDNESDAY IN A-10 OPENER

Flyers Open Conference Play Vs. The Patriots

The University of Dayton women's basketball team (7-4, 0-0 A-10) will open Atlantic 10 play at conference newcomer George Mason this Wednesday, Jan. 8 
at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be available online via free audio stream on DaytonFlyers.com on the A-10 Digital Network with Shane White on the call. 

SERIES INFO
This is the first meeting between Dayton and George Mason in women's basketball.

SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
The Patriots (6-9, 0-2 A-10) are coming of a 65-50 loss to La Salle Saturday in their conference home opener. George Mason is currently ranked second in the A-10 in both free throw percentage (77.2%) and three-point defense (26.2%). Fifth-year senior Janaa Pickard leads the conference in blocked shots per game (2.14), rebounds per game (10.5) and double-doubles (9). Pickard is averaging a double-double on the season at 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while sophomore Taylor Brown leads the Patriots in scoring at 18.7 points per game.

UD CONFERENCE OPENER POSTPONED
Dayton's Atlantic 10 opening game scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 5, at Chaifetz Arena was postponed. The Billikens were unable to return to St. Louis from New York, where they played Fordham Jan. 2, due to flight cancellations caused by winter weather in the Northeast. A makeup date for the game has not yet been scheduled.

• The Flyers have scored 80+ points in 10 of their 11 games this season, including 100+ in their last two games. 
• Dayton has scored first in 9 of 11 games this season, the exceptions were vs. Iowa and the second meeting versus Central Michigan.

HOOVER MANUEVER
•  Junior Andrea Hoover is known for her acrobatic layups but she gets it done behind the arc too. Her 123 career three-pointers made is 8th all-time at UD. She is 12  made threes from moving into 7th and 14 from 6th. Her .389 career three-point field goal percentage is second all-time, only behind Kiki Lund's (2004-08) .392. 
• Hoover's .451 three-point percentage this season is 22nd in the NCAA.
• Hoover is fifth in the A-10 in scoring with her 17.5 ppg. She is second in free throw % (.907) and three-point field goals made per game (2.9), and ninth in minutes played per game (33.5).

HOT MALOTT
•  Junior Ally Malott is 8th in the A-10 in scoring with 16.0 ppg and tied for 4th in rebounding with 8.4 rpg. She is one of two players in the conference to be in the top 10 in scoring and top 5 in rebounding. The other is VCU's Robyn Parks.

DEANE THE DREAM
•  2012-13 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Amber Deane has started all 42 games in her UD career. 
•  She leads Dayton in assists (48) and double-doubles with four this season.
•  Deane is ninth in the A-10 in scoring with 16.0 ppg and 7th in assists with 4.4 per game. 

AUSTRIA'S DEFENSE
•  Kelley Austria led the Flyers and was 6th in the A-10 with 63 steals as a freshman in 2012-13. Her 63 steals shattered UD's freshman-only steals record which was 48 by Tammy Stritenberger in 1977-78.
•  This season she has a team-high 25 steals, which is 5th best in the A-10.
•  She is 2nd in the A-10 in three-point field goal percentage (.462).
