DAYTON TOPS GEORGE MASON, 103-81

Flyers Head Coach Jim Jabir celebrates his 200th win at Dayton

Box Score
DAYTON, Ohio -- The University of Dayton women's basketball team scored in triple digits for the third time this season in tonight's 103-81 victory over George Mason at UD Arena.  It was a complete team effort on the offensive end, with six players scoring in double figures for the home team.  The game also marked the 200th victory at Dayton for Head Coach Jim Jabir.

The first half was a battle for both squads.  After the Flyers built an eight point lead early on, the Patriots took a three point advantage (22-19) following a Janaa Pickard three pointer at the 11:08 mark in the first half.

Dayton was able to rebound and head to the locker room holding a 56-42 lead largely due to the strong first half by Celeste Edwards.  The freshman hit five three pointers in the half and tied her career high with 17 points.

On the other side, George Mason was able to remain competitive thanks to Sandra Ngoie and Taylor Brown.  Ngoie led the charge in the first half with 15 points, while Brown added 11 for the Patriots.  The pair finished with 21 and 30 points on the night, respectively.

The Flyers enjoyed a comfortable lead for most of the second half, expanding their lead to as much as 31 points with 2:24 to play.  The star of the night for Dayton was Ally Malott, who scored a career-best 25 points on the evening to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.  18 of Malott's points came in the second half, when her team needed her most.

With the win, Dayton improves to 13-5, 6-1 A-10, and George Mason falls to 6-16, 0-9 A-10.  The Flyers next game is on Wednesday, Feb. at UD Arena against Virginia Commonwealth.
