WOMEN'S BASKETBALL KNOCKS OFF LA SALLE 84-69

Amber Deane Notched A Team-High 22 Points

PHILADELPHIA –  No. 22 University of Dayton women's basketball (19-5, 12-1 A-10) came back from an early first half, 12-point deficit to defeat La Salle (12-14, 7-7 A-10) 84-69 Wednesday night at Tom Gola Arena in an Atlantic 10 clash.

Sophomore Amber Deane led UD with 22 points, the seventh time in her career she has scored 20+ points. She also added eight assists and three steals. Junior Andrea Hoover contributed 19 points and tied her career-high for steals (4). Junior Ally Malott notched her 11th career double-double with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Freshman Celeste Edwards scored 12 points, all in the second half.

After trailing most the first half, the Flyers finished with a flourish, outscoring the Explorers 31-12 in the final 11 minutes of the first half.

Dayton had another solid shooting performance, making 46.3 percent of its shots (31-of-67).


The Flyer defense held the Explorers without a three-point field goal in the second half. UD also won the battle of the boards 48-38.
 
UD returns home for a game against Saint Joseph's on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. in an ESPNU nationally-televised game with Jim Barbar (play-by-play) and Ros Gold-Onwude (analyst) will have the call. It will be a WHITE OUT and the Flyers will celebrate Cassie Sant in a Senior Day recognition following the game.
