Vee Sanford matched his career-high with 23 points to lead the Dayton Flyers to an 87-74 victory over the Fordham Rams in the A-10 First Round.
Devin Oliver registered his second straight double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Jordan Sibert scored 14 and
Dyshawn Pierre tallied 12 as the Flyers, 23-9 overall, have now won four straight and 10 of its last 11.
Dayton had no trouble in the first half jumping out to a 50-31 lead. The Flyers shot .630 from the floor and hit a first half season-high eight shots from beyond the arc. Sanford led the way with 12, while Oliver scored 11.
Fordham shot the ball well early in the second half and pulled within five, 64-59, with less than 12 minutes to play. But the Flyer defense picked up a couple of key stops and spurred the offense.
UD shot a season-best .588 from the field and hit 9-of-19 from beyond the arc. UD also controlled the glass out-rebounding the Rams 40-33.
Next up for the Flyers is a battle against the No. 4 seed Saint Joseph's Hawks on Friday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network.
