DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball dropped a 69-66 decision to George Washington Sunday evening at UD Arena in both team's Atlantic 10 opener. The Flyers had three players in double-figures scoring while junior
Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. With the loss, Dayton falls to 9-4 on the season and 0-1 in league action. George Washington improves to 12-2 and 1-0 in A-10 play.
The Flyers' 31-game home winning streak, the nation's longest, was broken with Sunday's loss as was their eight-game overall winning streak. Dayton is now 13-7 all-time in Atlantic 10 openers and 7-5 in those played at home.

George Washington opened the game with a 7-0 run before Dayton fired off six-straight points to pull within. The Flyers took their first lead of the game, 14-13, at the 13:02 mark following a 6-0 run capped by a three-point basket from junior
Amber Deane. The two squads went into the locker room at the break tied at 32 points apiece following a Colonial buzzer-beater to even the score.
Dayton's largest lead of the game came just under four minutes into the second half, a seven-point advantage at 43-36. The Colonials scored 12 unanswered points to pull ahead, 48-43, and the game was tied at 48-all, the first of four tied scores down the stretch. Trailing two with six seconds remaining in regulation, the Flyers made one of two free throws and the Colonials connected on their next two tries as GW held on for the 69-66 win.
The Colonials were led by Jonquel Jones with 24 points and 17 rebounds.
The Flyers return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Davidson for Atlantic 10 action. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. at Belk Arena.
