Flyers to Welcome Nearly 9,000 Area School Kids to UD Arena

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will open its 2015-16 season Friday morning with its annual School Day game. The Flyers will play host to the Yale Bulldogs at UD Arena with tip-off set for 11:00 a.m. UD is set to welcome nearly 9,000 local school children to the arena for the game.

About the Flyers
Dayton is coming off one of its most successful seasons, a year that included the program's first appearance in a NCAA Tournament Regional Final, heading into the 2015-16 season. The Flyers return three starters and the Atlantic 10's Sixth Woman of the year in senior Amber Deane from 2014-15's 28-7 team. Deane is the team's top returning scorer (10.5 ppg.) while senior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova is the squad's top returning rebounder (6.1 rpg.) and shot blocker (2.7 bpg.).

Scouting Yale
The Yale Bulldogs finished the 2014-15 season with a 13-15 overall mark and in third place in the Ivy with a 7-7 conference record. The Bulldogs are coached by first-year mentor Allison Guth but return 12 of 13 players from last season. This will be Yale's first on-court action for 2015-16 as it did not play an exhibition contest. The Bulldogs' leading returning scorer is Tamara Simpson with 8.9 ppg. a year ago.

Last Time Out
In its only exhibition contest of 2015-16, Dayton downed Gannon 109-67 on Nov. 6 at UD Arena. Senior Amber Deane led four Flyers in double-figures scoring with 24 points while also dishing out seven assists and junior Saicha Grant-Allen recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
