WOMEN'S HOOPS TO HOST VANDERBILT WEDNESDAY

The Flyers Defeated the Commodores, 71-67, Last Season

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will welcome Vanderbilt to UD Arena on Wednesday evening. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Flyer Facts
» Head coach Jim Jabir is in his 13th season (239-140) at the helm of the Dayton women's team in 2015-16. He was named the eighth head coach, and first male, in the history of the program on April 8, 2003. Jabir holds a career record of 459-363 over 29 seasons.
» Dayton participated in its sixth-consecutive NCAA Tournament in 2015. It was the fifth at-large bid for the Flyers and the team's first appearance in a NCAA Regional Final.
» UD currently has one active 1,000-point scorer in senior Amber Deane (1,075).
» Currently in third place on UD's all-time blocked shots list, senior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova is poised to break the school record this season. She has 186 career blocks and needs just 35 more to usurp Michele Kruty (220) atop the list.
» This is the Flyers' 48th season (1968-69) as an intercollegiate sport at Dayton. UD's all-time record sits at 742-554 (.573).
» The Flyers are 166-139 (.544) in Atlantic 10 regular season play (20 seasons).

About the Flyers
Dayton opened the 2015-16 season on Nov. 13 against Yale with an 81-75 win at UD Arena. All 11 Flyers that saw game action scored, including a team-high 19 points from senior Amber Deane, one of four players in double-figures scoring for UD. Dayton is coming off one of the program's best-ever seasons in 2014-15 as the Flyers advanced to the school's first NCAA Regional Finals appearance.

Scouting Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt also opened its 2015-16 season at home over the weekend with an 89-39 drubbing of Mississippi Valley State on Sunday. Jasmine Jenkins led the Commodores with 24 points while Kendall Shaw was the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 10 boards. Last season Vanderbilt went 15-16 overall and 5-11 in SEC action.

Last Time Out
Senior Amber Deane led four Flyers in double-figures scoring Friday afternoon with a team-high 19 points as Dayton defeated Yale, 81-75. The Lathrup Village, Mich., native went a near-perfect 11-for-12 from the free throw line and grabbed six rebounds while dishing out three assists.

The Series
Dayton and Vanderbilt have previously met seven times with the Commodores holding the 5-2 advantage. The pair last squared off on Dec. 21, 2014 and they Flyers came away with a 71-67 win in Nashville. UD and VU have split the last four meetings in the series.

70'S the Magic Number
Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 112-11 (.910) when scoring 70 or more points, including 24-2 in 2014-15. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2009-10 when reaching that mark.

Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 for 2015-16 in voting among league head coaches with two first-place votes and 177 total points. All three of the Flyers' seniors were named to Preseason All-Conference Teams led by Amber Deane who earned mention on the First Team. Kelley Austria was named to the Preseason Second Team while Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova was named to the Third Team. Both Austria and Cornelie-Sigmundova were also voted onto the All-Defensive Team.

Three Points of Excellence
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 449 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.

1,000 and Counting
With her first made basket in the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship final, senior Amber Deane became the 23rd member of Dayton's 1,000-point club as only the 10th Flyer to reach that milestone in her third season. She has 1,075 career points, currently ranking 21st all-time.

We'll Take the Free Ones
As a team, the Flyers shot 76.4 percent from the free throw line in 2013-14, the BEST team free throw percentage in Dayton history. Last season's squad posted the program's second-best team free throw percentage at .745, finishing the year ranked first in the Atlantic 10 and 27th nationally.

20/20 Vision
Dayton reached the 20-wins mark for the eighth-consecutive season with its 59-45 win at Fordham on Feb. 18, 2015. This is the 15th time in the program's 47 seasons that Dayton has reached the 20-win plateau.

Sixth-Consecutive NCAA Tournament for Dayton
The Flyers made their sixth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2015 and hold an all-time record of 5-6 in NCAA Tournament play. UD gained entry into 2015's field of 64 with its fifth at-large bid to the championship (automatic qualifier in 2012 with the team's only Atlantic 10 Championship title) and advanced to the program's first Regional Final.
