ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of Dayton women's basketball team advanced to the NCAA Regional Semifinal for the first time in school history with its 82-66 win over Louisville Saturday and Times Union Center. The Flyers were led by senior
Andrea Hoover with a game-high 26 points and five assists while her perfect 15-for-15 night at the free-throw line set a new NCAA Tournament record (min. 12 attempts).
Also for the Flyers, junior
Amber Deane added 15 points and junior
Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova scored 12 points to go with a game-high 11 rebounds for the double-double. Junior
Kelley Austria was the fourth Flyer in double-figures scoring with 10 points.
Dayton's (28-6) 28 wins ties the 2012-13 squad that reached the NCAA Tournament Second Round and is the most by any other team since 1979-80 (36-2).
For the game, Dayton narrowly out-rebounded Louisville (27-7) by a margin of 41-39 but the Flyers shot 50.9 percent from the floor to the Cardinals' 31.5 percent.
Seventh-seeded Dayton will take on No. 1 seed Connecticut Monday at 7 p.m. ET in the Albany Regional Final. The game will be televised on ESPN.
