DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton softball team completed its Atlantic 10, three-game series sweep vs. George Washington Sunday with a 7-0 win.
The Flyers improve to 31-12 overall and 15-2 in A-10 play while the Colonials drop to 21-20 overall and 4-11 in conference action.

The Flyers broke open the scoring in the third inning. Senior
Natalie Mariano, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI on the day, got the Flyers going with a double down the right field line.
Kirsten Bartlett pinch ran for her. Following back-to-back walks to
Kathryn Hess and
Gabrielle Snyder to load the bases, senior
Tiffany Ricks hit a grand slam deep over the left field fence.
She has 115 career RBI, moving her to second all-time at UD ahead of Kathleen Maloof (2010-2013). She needs nine to tie record holder Lauren Nacke (2009-2012).

UD added one more run in the fourth inning.
Kennedy Haynes, who went 2-for-3 on the day, started out the inning with a double to left field.
Jaclyn Kweder's sacrifice bunt advanced Haynes to second and Mariano notched an RBI single up the middle to plate Haynes.
The Flyers tacked on two more runs in the fifth.Â
Hannah DeSalvo was hit by a pitch to lead off.
Kayla Haberstich doubled to right center. Haynes notched an RBI single to right field. Mariano reached on a fielder's choice which allowed Haberstich to score.Â
English went 6.1 innings with four strikeouts. She improves to 16-5 overall with the complete game shutout. Â Freshman
Manda Cash came in for the final two outs with the bases loaded and retired both batters.
The Flyers will be back at UD Softball Stadium Tuesday, April 21 at 4 p.m. ET to face Wright State in a non-conference game.

th career win, as well as a presentation for senior
Kayla English's perfect game she threw earlier this season. In addition, JaVonna Layfield and Andrijana Cvitkovic of the UD women's basketball team that advanced to the Elite Eight® will throw out the first pitch. The Anthem Buddies for this game will be the Firebirds 7th & 8th grade teams.
