DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team fell 62-61 to George Washington Sunday at UD Arena. With the loss, the Flyers drop to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 play while the Colonials improve to 13-3 overall and 3-0 in the league.

GAME BREAKDOWN• 1Q: The Flyers led 20-14 after the first 10 minutes of action. Dayton started the first quarter knocking down six-of-six attempts from the field. UD then missed six of its seven attempts in the final five minutes.
• 2Q: GW got within 20-19 early in the second quarter.
Saicha Grant-Allen's layup with 7:32 remaining ended a 5:33 scoring drought for the Flyers. Â UD went on a 16-7 run to close out the quarter and led 38-26 at the half.
• 3Q: The Colonials scored with one second left in the third quarter to take a 49-48 lead, GW's first lead since making the first basket of the game.

JaVonna Layfield made two free throws to tie the game, 59-59 with 1:34 left in regulation. Jonquel Jones made a three-pointer on GW's next possession to put the Colonials back up 62-59. Layfield made a layup at the 1:02 mark to get UD within 62-61. The Flyers missed five shots in the final 13 seconds and GW escaped with the 62-61 conference win.

Celeste Edwards played in her first game since Jan. 7, 2015. She led the Flyers with 14 points.
