DAYTON FACES A TOUGH ROAD TEST AT ST. BONAVENTURE ON TUESDAY The University of Dayton Flyers will face their third consecutive Top 100 RPI team against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Tuesday.
The game will be carried by the American Sports Network and SNY and is available with live streaming video, audio and stats at DaytonFlyers.com.
ABOUT ST. BONAVENTURE The St. Bonaventure Bonnies are second in the Atlantic 10 at 4-1. SBU is 12-4 overall and 8-1 at home.
The Bonnies showcase the highest scoring offense in league play, averaging 82.8 points.
Leading the attack are two players averaging 19-plus points per game in league play, guards Jaylen Adams (20.4) and Marcus Posley (19.2).
SERIES STUFF Dayton leads the all-time series 20-9.
The Flyers have won five straight and 14 of the last 15 meetings.
Last year, Dayton won all three meetings: 78-61 at SBU, 75-61 at UD Arena and 75-71 in Brooklyn during the A-10 Quarterfinals.
JUBILANT JUNIORS The junior class of
Kyle Davis,
Scoochie Smith and
Kendall Pollard are on pace to be the winningest in UD history.
The trio has 67 victories in their first 90 games, two wins ahead of the pace of the Class
of 2011 (Chris Wright, Devin Searcy, Peter Zesterman and Logan Nourse).
The Class of 2011 finished with 97 wins.
Counting redshirt junior
Charles Cooke, the juniors are also four of Dayton's top scorers: Cooke, 15.7 ppg; Pollard, 10.9 ppg; Smith, 10.5 ppg; and Davis, 8.5 ppg.
#TRENDING Charles Cooke has scored in double figures in seven straight games, averaging 19.0 points and shooting .529 from three during that span.
His 36 rejections are already a new UD freshman record, one more than Mark Ashman's in the 1996-97 season.
Steve McElvene needs two more to match Erv Giddings and crack the Flyer single-season top ten.
Not only has
Dyshawn Pierre scored in double figures in his last four games, he's also shooting .556 (20-of-36) from the field during that span.
Kyle Davis has an 11-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in the previous four games.
In two games last week, UD won the turnover battle by plus-3.5.
CONTROL THE GLASS In Dayton's wins, the Flyers out-rebound opponents by 5.6 per contest.
In the losses, the Flyers' rebounding margin is negative 4.3.
UD is 9-1 this year when out-rebounding teams.
DEPTH DELIVERS Although the Flyers do not lead in various statistical categories, the team's multi-faceted offense continues to produce positive results.
Dayton has seven players who average six or more points per game. In league play, UD averages 74.6 points per game, slightly ahead of the 73.8 points per game in non-conference action.
UP NEXT Dayton returns to the Empire State to face the Fordham Rams on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. ET.
