BRONX, N.Y. -
Charles Cooke scored a career-high 26 points as the Dayton Flyers defeated the Fordham Rams, 64-50.
Dayton won its fourth in a row and improved to 16-3 overall and 6-1 in the Atlantic 10.
Scoochie Smith tallied 14 points and four assists, while
Dyshawn Pierre registered 12 points and nine rebounds.
GAME BREAKDOWN- Dayton jumped out fast again opening the game on a 16-4 run.
- The Flyers kept the big lead throughout the first half and led 37-24 at the half.
- Cooke scored 11 straight points for Dayton from the 7:09 mark of the second half to the 1:20 mark just as Fordham was trying to mount a comeback. The Rams never got closer than seven points in the second half.
- Fordham cut the deficit to 56-49 with 2:32 left in regulation.
- UD's Cooke then scored four of Dayton's next six points, and two free throws apiece by Pierre and Smith sealed the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS- Dayton matches its best start in the Archie Miller era at 16-3. The Flyers were also 16-3 last season through 19 games.
- Charles Cooke had his eighth game scoring 20-plus points. He has also scored in double figures in nine consecutive contests.
- Cooke was 9-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range. He also added six rebounds and three steals.
- Kyle Davis recorded season-highs of eight rebounds and six assists.
- Dayton's defense limited Fordham to 5-of-25 (20 percent) from beyond the arc.
