DAYTON - The University of Dayton Flyers defeated the La Salle Explorers 59-44 in front of a sellout crowd at UD Arena on Saturday afternoon. This was the sixth straight win for the Flyers and 19th straight Atlantic 10 win at home.
Kendall Pollard led Dayton with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Dayton is now 18-3 overall and 8-1 in the A-10. La Salle falls to 5-14, and 1-7 in conference
GAME BREAKDOWN• Dayton struggled early offensively, trailing 10-2 with 13:37 remaining in the first half.
• La Salle extended its lead to nine, 14-5, at the 11:54 minute mark in the opening half.
• The Flyers proceeded to go on an 11-2 run to tie the game 16-16.
• After a La Salle three pointer, Dayton went on a 10-0 run to take a 26-19 lead.
• The run was highlighted by a spinning layup from freshman backup point guard

• The Flyers took a 30-23 lead into the half.
• Things stayed close in the second half, as La Salle was able to stay within seven points for most of the half.
• The Explorers cut it to three (42-39) with 12:07 to go, but Dayton pushed back with a 17-3 spurt over the next 11-and-a-half minutes
• A big key was when Dayton finally found some separation when
Kyle Davis hit a three-point basket with 6:12 remaining in the contest to extend the lead to 52-42.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS• This was the second straight game that Dayton held an opponent under 45 points. The Flyers are 7-0 when giving up less than 60 points.
• Dayton held La Salle to just 32% shooting in the game.
• The home team forced La Salle to have three shot clock violations, a season high for the Flyers.

Kendall Pollard had 18 points and eight rebounds.
• Pollard has had seven offensive rebounds in the past two games, compared to having just one offensive rebound in the first seven league games.

Dyshawn Pierre scored 13 points and secured nine rebounds.

Kyle Davis added 12 points and seven rebounds.  Seven of his 12 points came in Dayton's critical late-game 17-2 run.

Steve McElvene had two blocks and increased his total to 47 on the year.
• In the first game against La Salle (a 61-57 loss), Dayton was 7-25 from the three-point line. Today, the Flyers only attempted seven three point shots.
• The Flyers outrebounded La Salle 40-23.
• This is Dayton's best start under
Archie Miller.
UP NEXT• The Flyers are off until Feb. 6, when they travel to Virginia to take on the George Mason Patriots. The game will be televised by MASN and picked up by Time Warner SportChannel in Ohio.
