UD FACES ALABAMA IN AN ESPN TIP-OFF MARATHON CONTEST













FLYERS FACE ALABAMA IN AN ESPN TIP-OFF MARATHON CONTEST
  • The University of Dayton Flyers face a difficult road test on Tuesday against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Tip is at 1:15 p.m. ET as part of ESPN's ninth annual Tip-Off Marathon.
  • The game will be carried by ESPN2 and is available with live streaming video, audio and stats at DaytonFlyers.com.

ABOUT ALABAMA
  • The Alabama Crimson Tide, 1-0 overall, returns two starters and eight letterwinners from last season's 18-15 team that reached the National Invitation Tournament.
  • Senior Shannon Hale, who returns as the team's leading scorer at 10.8 points per game, leads the Alabama attack.
  • In their win versus Coastal Carolina, the Crimson Tide, graduate student Corbin Collins led the way with 15 points.

SERIES STUFF
  • Dayton leads the all-time series 3-1.
  • Last year, Dayton defeated Alabama 80-48 with four Flyers scoring in double figures.

CONQUERING GOLIATH
  • UD has been powerful against the power conferences. Dayton is 30-12 in the last nine years against the power five programs.
  • Dayton has won 13 of the last 16, including four straight, versus SEC opponents.
  • The Flyers were 4-1 in 2015-16 against power five schools after wins over No. 21/16 Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arkansas and Iowa.
  • Dayton's 30 victories have come against Ole Miss (five times), Alabama and Georgia Tech (three times), Boston College and Auburn (twice), Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Stanford, Syracuse, Ohio State, California, North Carolina, Minnesota, Illinois, Louisville, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Iowa and Pittsburgh once.

SUPERIOR SENIORS
  • The senior class of Kyle Davis, Scoochie Smith and Kendall Pollard are on pace to be the winningest class in UD history.
  • The trio has 79 victories in their first 107 games, three wins ahead of the pace of the Class of 2011 (Chris Wright, Devin Searcy, Peter Zesterman and Logan Nourse).
  • The Class of 2011 finished with 97 wins.
  • Counting Charles Cooke, the seniors were also four of Dayton's top scorers last season: Cooke, 15.6 ppg; Smith, 11.7 ppg; Pollard, 10.3 ppg; and Davis, 8.0 ppg.

  • UD was picked to finish first in the 2016-17 Atlantic 10 Conference preseason poll.
  • Charles Cooke was named to the preseason All-Atlantic 10 First-Team and All-Defensive Team.
  • Joining Cooke on the All-Defensive Team is Kyle Davis. Scoochie Smith earned an All-Atlantic 10 Second-Team selection.
  • Cooke's 31 points were the most by a Flyer since Chris Wright tallied 30 against Coastal Carolina on Dec. 18, 2010.
  • UD has won 26 straight games scoring 80-plus points.
  • The Flyers are 34-1 when limiting opponents to 60 points or less in the last four seasons, including a 9-0 mark in 2015-16.

DAYTON SIGNS OUTSTANDING RECRUITING CLASS
  • Archie Miller on Nov. 9 announced the signing of four top high school players to letters of intent: 6-foot-4 guard Jordan Davis of Irmo, S.C., 7-foot center Jordan Pierce of Scotch Plains, N.J., 6-foot guard McKinley Wright from Champlain, Minn. and 6-foot-5 guard Nahziah Carter from Rochester, N.Y.
  • The new Flyer recruits also had scholarship offers from schools in the ACC, Big Ten, Big XII and Big East, among others.

UP NEXT
  • The Flyers will return to Dayton to host the Saint Mary's Gaels on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. ET.
