DAYTON OPENS THE 2016-17 SEASON HOSTING AUSTIN PEAY
  • The University of Dayton Flyers will commence their 109th season of basketball by hosting the Austin Peay Governors on Friday, Nov. 11.
  • The game will be carried by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and is available with live streaming video, audio and stats at DaytonFlyers.com.

ABOUT AUSTIN PEAY
  • The defending 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament champion Austin Peay Governors finished 18-18 last season.
  • Junior guard Josh Robinson, a preseason All-OVC selection, leads the Governors attack after averaging 16.9 points per game in 2015-16.
  • The Govs will have the green light in 2016-17; five returners attempted at least 25 three-pointers last season.

SERIES STUFF
  • Dayton leads the all-time series 3-0.
  • This will be the third time Austin Peay will serve as Dayton's opponent in a home opener (1991 and 2006).

OPENING DAY HORS D'OEUVRES
  • The Flyers have won 11 consecutive opening games and 14 of their last 15.
  • Dayton is 43-4 in home openers at UD Arena.
  • Coach Archie Miller is 5-0 on opening day.
  • Last time Dayton broke the 100-point scoring mark in a season opener was on Nov. 23, 1991 when UD defeated Austin Peay 101-94.
  • The Flyers had a 23-game home-opener winning streak from 1969 to 1991.

SUPERIOR SENIORS
  • The senior class of Kyle Davis, Scoochie Smith and Kendall Pollard are on pace to be the winningest class in UD history.
  • The trio has 78 victories in their first 106 games, three wins ahead of the pace of the Class of 2011 (Chris Wright, Devin Searcy, Peter Zesterman and Logan Nourse).
  • The Class of 2011 finished with 97 wins.
  • Counting Charles Cooke, the seniors were also four of Dayton's top scorers last season: Cooke, 15.6 ppg; Smith, 11.7 ppg; Pollard, 10.3 ppg; and Davis, 8.0 ppg.

  • UD was picked to finish first in the 2016-17 Atlantic 10 Conference preseason poll.
  • Charles Cooke was named to the preseason All-Atlantic 10 First-Team and All-Defensive Team.
  • Joining Cooke on the All-Defensive Team is Kyle Davis. Scoochie Smith earned an All-Atlantic 10 Second-Team selection.
  • Dayton won the A-10 regular season championship for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign.
  • Four Flyers averaged in double figures last year. The last time UD had four players average double figures was in 2002-03.
  • UD went 12-2 last season with a full roster.
  • The Flyers were 10-0 last year scoring 80 or more points.
  • Dayton was 10-1 when Kyle Davis scored in double figures last season.
  • The Flyers are 34-1 when limiting opponents to 60 points or less in the last three seasons, including a 9-0 mark in 2015-16.
  • Dayton was 21-3 when three or more players score in double figures. Two of those losses were against Saint Joseph's.
  • In the first half last season, Dayton shot .421 (394-935) from the field, but in the second half the marksmanship improved to .491 (435-886).
