CHICAGO – Scoochie Smith scored 16 of his team high 18 points in the second half and
Charles Cooke added 12 as the Dayton Flyers had their five-game winning streak snapped with a 67-64 loss to the Northwestern Wildcats in the State Farm Chicago Legends.
Dayton almost came back from a 24-point deficit, but could not prevail. The Flyers dropped to 7-3 overall.
GAME BREAKDOWN
- Dayton trailed 40-17 at the half after the Flyers shot 4 of 28 (14 percent) from the floor. The Flyers closed the first half making just one of their last 13 from the floor.
- UD was out-rebounded 28-14 in the opening 20 minutes.
- Dayton improved significantly shooting 14 of 27 from the field in the second half. Smith brought the Flyers the closest with a layup with 9.2 seconds to go.
- The Flyers almost got a turnover in the final seconds, and that would have allowed them to take possession facing a three-point deficit. Kyle Davis tried to get a steal under the basket, but the ball went off his leg out of bounds. Dayton never got closer than the final deficit.
