FLYERS CRUISE TO 19-POINT WIN OVER MORGAN STATE

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's basketball team returned home to host Morgan State Friday and picked up a 61-42 victory over the visitors.

The Flyers are now (3-4) on the season and the Bears are (1-6).

GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 15, Morgan State 8
The Flyer defense started strong not giving up any points until five minutes into the game. Dayton led the rebounding battle with 10 boards compared to Morgan State's seven. The Flyers scored eight points in the paint while Morgan State had two. Morgan State shot 23% (3-for-13), but 40% from three (2-for-5). The Flyers had six field goals and four assists. Senior Kelly Austria had strong first period with 10 points, going 4-for-6 from the floor.

2nd Quarter: Dayton 28, Morgan State 20
The Bears ended the quarter shooting 2-for-10. Dayton had seven second chance points on four offensive rebounds. After registering no points in the first quarter, both teams' benches came alive with nine points for the Flyers and eight for Morgan State. The Flyers dominated inside the paint, scoring 10 of their 13 points from close range. Redshirt junior Alex Harris had a strong quarter with five points and four rebounds.

3rd Quarter: Dayton 44, Morgan State 32
The Flyers defense was a force in the third with four steals, six points off turnovers, and a block. Jenna Burdette came out of halftime with a steal early on and five points in the quarter. Dayton struggled from the line shooting 50% on free throws (6-for-12). The Flyers maintained their lead throughout the period and went into the final quarter up double digits.

4th Quarter: Dayton 61, Morgan State 42
Dayton opened the fourth with a 5-0 run, achieving a lead of 17. Over the next five minutes, Dayton scored all five of their points from free throws while going 0-for-5 on field goals. The Bears ran into foul trouble late with two players fouling out and one other with four. Morgan State struggled late shooting 18% (3-for-17) in the fourth. Christy Macioce stepped up with an impressive block two rebounds and a three to close things out for the Flyers. Dayton achieved its largest lead of the night with 22 points with 15 seconds left in the game.
