DAYTON, Ohio - More than 9,000 were in attendance for the University of Dayton women's basketball annual School Day game at UD Arena. The Flyers (3-6) lost to Toledo (7-1) with a final score of 76-72. Junior
Jenna Burdette scored a game-high 23 points for the Flyers.Â
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 17, Toledo 14
The game started as a close matchup before Dayton went on a 9-0 run in the middle of the first quarter to go up 17-8. Toledo was then able to stop the Flyers and continued on a 6-0 run of its own to end the quarter. Burdette led the Flyers with six points after knocking down a pair of shots from behind the arc. 2nd Quarter: Dayton 31, Toledo 31
The second quarter was no different as both teams continued to battle back and forth. Dayton looked like they were going to head into the locker room with the lead after
Lauren Cannatelli hit a three, but Toledo was able to hit a three of its own at the buzzer to tie the game at the half. Six different Flyers scored in the first half to contribute to the Flyers lead. Toledo struggled with its shooting as they were 2-8 from behind the arc (25%) and 13-36 (36%) from the field, but had seven second-chance points.

3rd Quarter: Dayton 50, Toledo 51
Toledo was able to score on its opening possession after the half to give the Rockets their first lead since there was 8:50 left on the clock in the first quarter. Toledo continued to come out hot as they were able to extend their lead to 37-31 before the Flyers were able to score.
Saicha Grant-Allen scored the next five points for Dayton cutting the Toledo lead to 37-36. In the third quarter alone, the score was tied three times and there were three lead changes.

4th Quarter: Dayton 72, Toledo 76
Burdette hit a three pointer to start the quarter to give Dayton the lead. The Rockets came back and were able to hold off the Flyers as they were able to hit their free throws late in the game shooting 6-of-9 from the charity stripe in the final quarter. Toledo shot 62 percent from the court in the fourth compared to the Flyers who shot 47 percent.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The score was tied seven times and there were eight lead changes.
- The Flyers had the lead in the game for 26:18 while the Rockets led for just 9:39.
- Dayton had the advantage in the paint scoring 30 points compared to Toledo's 22.
- The Rockets got a boost from their bench as they scored 21 points compared to Dayton's bench who scored just seven points.
- Mikaela Boyd and Jay Bravo-Harriot led the Rockets with 16 points each.
- Burdette shot 80 percent from three-point range (4-6).
- Grant-Allen added 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the game.
KEY STAT
20 - Dayton committed 20 turnovers in which Toledo was able to capitalize and score 23 points. The Rockets committed 12 turnovers.
