DAYTON, Ohio -Â The University of Dayton Men's Basketball team (21-5, 11-2 A-10) fell to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (18-7, 9-4 A-10) by a score of 79-72 on Saturday afternoon at UD Arena. Dayton, who entered the game ranked 15th by the Associated Press and 13th in the USA Today/Coaches Poll, lost back-to-back games for the first time in 77 games, snapping the third-longest such string in the nation.
Charles Cooke led UD with 22 points. Jaylen Adams led all scorers with 31 points for the Bonnies.
Game Breakdown:1st Half
-Â St. Bonaventure started the game red hot, connecting on 6 of their first 9 attempts, including three 3 pointers. They held an early 10 point lead, 15-5.
-Â Cooke and
Steve McElvene brought Dayton back into it, combining for the team's first 11 points. With 11:44 left in the first half Dayton trailed 18-11.
-Â A
Scoochie Smith layup at the 10-minute mark brought the crowd to its feet and cut the deficit to one.
-Â The Flyers finally took the lead, although briefly, with 55.8 seconds left in the half after Smith knocked down a pair of free-throws. It was the first time Dayton lead since early in the game when they lead 3-2.
-Â St. Bonaventure scored the last five points of the half, including Jaylen Adams' hit a three with 1.7 seconds left to give the Bonnies a 40-36 advantage heading into the break.

Scoochie Smith both led the Flyers with 10 points in the first half. Jaylen Adams led all scorers with 16.
2nd Half

Scoochie Smith started the scoring in the second half for the Flyers drilling a three from the left wing. On the next possession Cooke got in on the action, hitting another 3 and tying the score at 42.
-Â The Bonnies then went on a 10-3 run to lead 52-45
-Â Dayton responded with a 9-0 run of their own, highlighted by a Cooke steal which turned into an "and one" layup. Cooke converted on the free throw. The Flyers led 54-52 with 13:08 left to play.
-Â Jaylen Adams responded with an "and one" of his own to give the Bonnies a 55-54 advantage.
-Â SBU never trailed after that, leading by as much as six.
-Â With 1:10 left, Dayton trailed 72-70. Cooke drove in for a layup which rimmed out but big
Steve McElvene was there for the tip in.
-Â After an SBU timeout, Jaylen Adams drilled a three from the right wing to give the Bonnies a 75-72 lead with 36 seconds left in the game
-Â Cooke missed a floater in the lane and the Flyers then had to resort to fouling. Adams made two more free throws to secure their victory.
-Â Dayton is now tied for second in the Atlantic 10, a game behind league-leader VCU.
Inside the Numbers-Â Dayton shot 40% (10-25) in the first half but only 22.2% (2-9) from three. The Bonnies shot 41% (12-29) from the field, 45.5% (5-11) from three.
-Â There were six different lead changes in the game but the Flyers only led for 1:59 of game time.
-Â St. Bonaventure shot 50% (10-20) from three. Jaylen Adams hit five (5-9) from long range.
-Â Dayton as a team only connected on five three-pointers (5-21).

Charles Cooke had his 11th games of 20 points or more, and scored his 1,000th college point in the game (613 at James Madison, 406 at Dayton)

Steve McElvene had 12 points (5-6 FG), five rebounds and two blocks. He is shooting .750 (15-20) from the field in the last five games.
