CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The University of Dayton softball team finished the Chattanooga Spring Classic in style on Sunday afternoon, mercy-ruling the Detroit Titans 8-0 at Warner Park.
Scoring BreakdownTop 1st –
Kailee Budicin knocked a single to right, bringing home
Katie Ryan and giving the Flyers a 1-0 lead.
Top 2nd –
Kayla Haberstich started the scoring in the inning with an RBI double to center field that brought around
Hannah DeSalvo to give UD a 2-0 lead.
Top 2nd –
Gabrielle Snyder made it a 3-0 advantage for the Flyers with a single that brought home Haberstich.
Top 2nd – The scoring of the inning was capped off by a
Kathryn Hess two-run home run, pushing the Flyers' lead out to 5-0.
Top 3rd – DeSalvo knocked in a run with a double that brought home Budicin and gave Dayton a 6-0 lead.
Top 3rd – One of Detroit's three errors on the day accounted for the final two runs of the day for UD, with DeSalvo and
Kyle Davidson each crossing the plate on a Titans' throwing miscue to put Dayton up 8-0.
Key StatsHess' home run was her third of the year, helping her surpass her career total in the first weekend of play in her senior year.
DeSalvo finished the game 1-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.
