@DaytonMBB Falls 69-54 To Saint Mary’s



MORAGA, Calif. – Xeyrius Williams scored a season high 16 points, but the Dayton Flyers fell to the Saint Mary's Gaels, 69-54.

Jordan Davis scored nine of his 11 points in the first half and Josh Cunningham had nine points and eight rebounds.

Kostas Antetokounmpo had six points, five rebounds and two blocks.

Dayton falls to 5-6 on the season.

FIRST HALF
  • After trailing 13-9 to open the game, the Flyers went on an 8-0 run and led for most of the half.
  • UD took a 31-29 lead paced by nine points from Jordan Davis. Davis connected on 3 of 5 3-pointers.
  • Seven of the eight players who appeared in the half for Dayton scored. The only one who didn't was the team's leading scorer on the season, Darrell Davis.
  • The Flyers limited Saint Mary's to 3 of 12 (25 percent) from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes.

SECOND HALF
  • Saint Mary's came out of the gate red hot with a 12-2 run to open the half.
  • Dayton clawed back after a Cunningham 3-point play to cut the deficit to 49-46 with 7:59 to play.
  • The Gaels stormed ahead with a 12-0 run to take a 61-46 lead with 3:39 left in regulation.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • It was Dayton's first loss this season leading at the half. Previously, the Flyers were 4-0 when ahead after the first 20 minutes.
  • The Flyers are 0-6 this season when scoring 70 or fewer points.
  • Antetokounmpo has at least one block in his last seven games.
  • Dayton shot only three free throws and converted all three.
  • Darrell Davis, UD's leading scorer on the year, had six rebounds and four assists, but was held scoreless for the first time this season.
