WRIGHT STATE DEFEATS #UDSB, 6-5, IN FAIRBORN

Kimmell Went 3-for-3 at the Plate for the Flyers

FAIRBORN, Ohio - The University of Dayton softball team dropped a 6-5 decision at Wright State Wednesday evening. Freshman Mallory Kimmell was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for the Flyers.

Dayton moves to 12-13 on the season while Wright State improves to 5-13.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Top Second
With runners at second and third, freshman Mallory Kimmell picked up two RBI with her single to right field and the Flyers were up two after two.

Top Third
Freshman Julia Blarr was on first when senior Hannah DeSalvo sent a ball to the wall with her first triple of the season, scoring Blarr. Sophomore Madi Maloof grounded out on the next play but DeSalvo scooted home and Dayton took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the third.

Bottom Third
The Raiders led of the third with back-to-back singles and one was plated with a subsequent double. WSU's fourth batter of the frame singled to center field, bringing in a runner from third and the Raiders' third run was a result of a double-steal situation. With a runner on third, consecutive walks loaded up the bases and Wright State evened the score with a RBI-single, 4-4.

Top Fourth
Junior Kailee Budicin reached first on a fielder's choice, was able to get to second on a wild pitch and sophomore Kyle Davidson's double got her back to the plate. The Flyers were back in front, 5-4.

Bottom Sixth
Wright State's Libby Pfeffer laid down a dribbler of a bunt and, in the scramble to collect the ball, a Raider runner got past the Flyer catcher to even the game at five runs apiece.

KEY STATS
3-for-3 - Kimmell was perfect at the plate for the Flyers, tallying two RBI
2-for-2 - senior Hannah DeSalvo was also perfect at the plate with one RBI and one run scored.

UP NEXT
Dayton will begin Atlantic 10 Conference play this weekend with a trip to Washington, D.C., to take on George Washington. The Flyers and the Colonials will play two on Saturday with first pitch set for 12 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday, also set for 12 p.m.
