SAINT LOUIS GETS TWO FROM #UDSB WEDNESDAY

Dayton Returns Home to Host George Mason this Weekend

ST. LOUIS - The University of Dayton softball team dropped two games at Saint Louis Wednesday in Atlantic 10 action. SLU defeated UD 8-2 in the first game and 8-1 in the second.

Dayton is now an even 15-15 on the season and moves to 3-2 in A-10 play while Saint Louis is 14-13 overall and 3-2 in league action.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Game One: Saint Louis 8, Dayton 2
Bottom First
With two runners on, Saint Louis' Macfarlane sent a long ball over the right field fence, putting the Billikens up three, 3-0. Junior pitcher Manda Cash was able to retire the next two batters via looking strikeouts.
Bottom Second
The first two Saint Louis batters were walked and the next Billiken at the plate singled to load the bases. Cash was able to strike out the next two but SLU's Peter collected three RBI with her bases-clearing double. After two innings, the Billikens were in front of the Flyers, 6-0.
Bottom Third
With two outs and the bases full, the Billikens' Nickel batted a single to score one more for SLU but the next batter struck out looking to end the rally.
Top Fifth
Dayton was able to get its offense going as junior Kailee Budicin led off the fifth with a single. Senior Gabrielle Snyder stepped up with runners on second and third and sent a ball to the center field wall, plating one. Senior Hannah DeSalvo was able to score as Snyder got caught up in a run down and the Flyers cut into the lead, 7-2.
Bottom Sixth
Saint Louis tacked on one more run in the sixth with a RBI single by Macfarlane and the Billikens claimed the 8-2 win.

Bottom First
Saint Louis started quick again as three consecutive singles set Macfarlane up for a RBI walk followed by a single plus a Dayton error to score two more. With one out, SLU's Weaver doubled to bring in a run and a sacrifice fly out scored one more as Saint Louis took a 5-0 advantage.
Top Second
With freshman Julia Blarr on second, senior Katie Ryan doubled to left field to send Blarr home for a Flyer run.
Bottom Fourth
The Billikens had two on when a double-steal situation resulted in a Flyer throwing error and a run scored for SLU. Saint Louis' Buckle singled and a base runner scored after an errant throw from the Dayton first baseman. After four complete, the Billikens led 7-1.
Bottom Sixth
SLU got one more across when a Billiken was caught stealing at second and the runner at third scurried home. Saint Louis took the nightcap, 8-1.

UP NEXT
Dayton returns home for a three-game Atlantic 10 series against George Mason this weekend. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is set for 12 p.m. at UD Softball Stadium.
