#UDWBB Stays On Road At Davidson Saturday

The Flyers Are 15-4 On The Season And 8-0 In A-10 Play

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team remains on the road as the Flyers head to Davidson College Saturday, Jan. 27 for a 2 p.m. tip-off at Belk Arena.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers continue to lead the Atlantic 10 standings with an 8-0 conference mark, followed closely by Duquesne, who is 7-0. Dayton is 15-4 overall this season and currently riding a nine-game winning streak. UD is 4-2 on the road this season.

Head coach Shauna Green is in her second season at the helm of the Flyers after going 22-10 in her first campaign last year. The WBCA National Rookie Coach of the Year returns an experienced squad with three seniors, six juniors, and three starters.

As a team, Dayton has a +13.0 scoring margin, averaging 74.7 points per game while holding opposing teams to 60.8 points. The Flyers are shooting 42.9 percent from the field, 37.8 percent from the three-point range, and 71.3 percent from the free throw line. Dayton also benefits from a +6.8 rebounding margin and a +0.2 turnover margin.

The Flyers are led by senior Jenna Burdette, who is scoring 15.4 points per game and dishing out 3.6 assists. Sophomore Jayla Scaife is adding 15.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while senior JaVonna Layfield has nine double-doubles this season, averaging 11.7 points and 12.6 rebounds each contest.

SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson currently sits in eighth in the A-10 standings with a 4-4 record in conference play and a 9-12 mark overall. The Wildcats are on a two-game winning streak, but are just 4-5 at home this season. Head coach Gayle Coats Fulks is in her first season at Davidson.

The Wildcats score 62.8 points per game and give up 67.0 to opponents. Davidson does lead the A-10 in turnovers forced, but is being outrebounded on average. This season, the Wildcats are shooting 35.8 percent overall, 29.9 percent from behind the arc, and 71.6 percent from the charity stripe.

Leading the way for Davidson is Justine Lyon, who has a team-high 15.4 points per game, and Mackenzie Latt, who contributes 14.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while leading the team in steals and blocks. Katie Turner is also averaging double digits with 10.1 points each contest.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton picked up a hard-fought 66-59 win on the road at Richmond Wednesday, after having five players score in double figures. The Flyers held the Spiders to 29.7 percent from the floor as well.

Davidson earned a double-overtime win over Massachusetts Wednesday at home, 87-81. The Wildcats outscored the Minutewomen 14-8 in the final period and improved their conference record to .500.

THE SERIES
The Flyers and Wildcats have played just three times previously after Davidson joined the A-10 in 2014-15. Dayton has won all three contests, two of which have come in North Carolina. In last year's meeting, the Flyers were victorious, 68-52, thanks to Lauren Cannatelli's then-school record seven three pointers. She broke her own record this season with 10 in a game.

UP NEXT
The Flyers return home to host A-10 unbeaten foe Duquesne Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at UD Arena. It will be Disney Day for the Flyers.
