#UDMSOC Advances To Semifinals With Late Winner

Harryson Scored With 49 Seconds Left In Double Overtime

DAVIDSON, N.C.  – The University of Dayton men's soccer team scored with just 49 seconds left in double overtime to survive and advance to the Atlantic 10 Tournament Semifinals.

The Flyers (9-5-4, 4-3-1 A-10) won the quarterfinal showdown on the road against the Wildcats (9-7-2, 5-2-1 A-10) as they keep the season alive.

KEY STATS
  • Dayton gave up the opening goal in the 78th minute off a free kick that bounced around the box until Davidson was able to drive it home.
  • Rok Taneski scored his second goal of the season in dramatic fashion off a free kick with just 13 seconds left in regulation to tie the game up at 1-1 and give Dayton more time to keep their season alive.
  • The Flyers were done to 10 men in the final seconds of regulation after a second yellow turned red put Dayton a man down.
  • Elias Harryson scored the game-winning goal in the 110th minute, completing the Dayton rally. It was his second goal of the season and Laurel Aug's third assist.
  • The Flyers were outshot in the game 17-13, but matched the Wildcats with six on target.
  • Taneski and Jonas Fjeldberg led the team with three shots each.
  • Goalkeeper Federico Barrios recorded five saves and picked up the win.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"It was a very exciting win for our program," said head coach Dennis Currier. "We knew we were facing a very good opponent on the road and we handled adversity very well. We showed an incredible amount of grit and resilience to draw the game up with 10 seconds and then overcome being a man down to score the game winner. Just a great result for our program."

  • The Flyers will now head to Saint Louis next weekend to take on No. 3 seed George Mason Friday, Nov. 9 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
