#UDWBB Faces George Mason In Home Finale

The 21-4 Flyers Host the 21-7 Patriots

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team hosts George Mason at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 in the final home game of the 2017-18 season. It will be Dads and Daughters night at UD Arena.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers are fresh off their Atlantic 10 title winning victory over Fordham and now sit at an unbeaten 14-0 in league play. Overall, Dayton is 21-4 this season, on a 15-game winning streak, and 11-1 at home.

Head coach Shauna Green is in her second season at the helm of the Flyers after going 22-10 in her first campaign last year. The WBCA National Rookie Coach of the Year returns an experienced squad with three seniors, six juniors, and three starters.

As a team, Dayton is outscoring opponents 74.9 to 60.5 points per game, as well as outrebounding them by a +6.4 margin. The Flyers shoot 43.8 percent from the field, 39.2 percent from three point range, and 71.7 percent from the free throw line.

The Flyers are led by senior Jenna Burdette, who is averaging 16.5 points and 3.9 assists per game. Sophomore Jayla Scaife is chipping in 14.8 points and 5.1 rebounds each outing while junior Lauren Cannatelli is adding 13.1 points and senior JaVonna Layfield is adding 11.8 points and 12.9 boards per game.

SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
George Mason comes to Dayton with a 21-7 record overall and a 9-5 conference record, sitting in fourth place currently. The Patriots are 6-5 away from home this season, but currently on a three-game winning streak. Head coach Nyla Milleson is in her fifth season at GMU.

The Patriots average 69.1 points per game and hold opposing teams to 59.5 points. GMU is shooting 40.3 percent overall, 29.7 percent from behind the arc, and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Leading the way is A-10 player of the year candidate and UConn transfer Natalie Butler, who is averaging 18.5 points and 16.0 rebounds per game. She leads all of Division I in rebounding and double-doubles. Freshman Nicole Cardano-Hillary provides an offensive spark as well, averaging 17.7 points per game.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton sealed its second straight A-10 regular season title with a 79-54 win over Fordham Sunday for Senior Day. Jenna Burdette's 27 points led the way as four Flyers scored in double figures.

George Mason won its third in a row with a 78-63 victory over St. Bonaventure at home Sunday. Natalie Butler had 23 points and 24 rebounds as the Patriots led throughout the entire game.

THE SERIES
The Flyers and Patriots have squared off six times previously with Dayton winning five of the meetings. Last season, UD came out on top in Fairfax, 60-48.
