DAYTON – The University of Dayton has announced that
Chase Johnson, a transfer from the University of Florida will be eligible to see action when the Flyers open the season on Nov. 9 against Indiana State.
Johnson was a mid-year transfer last December, but has been ruled eligible beginning with the first game of the upcoming season.
"We're very happy and excited for Chase," Flyer coach
Anthony Grant said. "We, along with Chase and his family, are very appreciative of the NCAA's decision to grant the waiver allowing him three full years of competition."
Injuries limited Johnson to six games at the beginning of the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons at Florida. In 53 minutes played, he scored 23 points and 12 rebounds (3.8 and 2.0 averages). He shot .563 (7-12) from the field and seven of his 12 rebounds were offensive boards.
Dayton was 21-12 and reached the NIT in
Anthony Grant's second season as the Dayton head coach. UD was third in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 13-5 record.
