Men's Basketball Hosts Charleston Southern In "Maui On The Mainland" Game

UD Will Play In Front Its Second Sellout Crowd Of The Season

DAYTON -- The University of Dayton Flyers will take to Tom Blackburn Court for the second time this season on Saturday, Nov. 19, when UD welcomes Charleston Southern to the Arena.  Game time is 7 p.m. ET.  Saturday's game is a "Maui on the Mainland" game.  For the Flyers, it is the fourth game of the Maui Invitational exempt tournament.  Dayton's other three games will be in the main draw of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational, Nov. 25-27.

The game, which is sold out, will carried by WHIO Radio, televised by Fox Sports Ohio and streamed on ESPN+.  Streaming audio, streaming video and stats will be available at DaytonFlyers.com.

THE TRANSFORMED UD ARENA
The University of Dayton has a three-year, $76.2 million transformation project of UD Arena in time for the Arena's 50th anniversary season. The project transformed the 50-year-old facility into a state-of-the-art venue.  The upgrade, the largest construction project in University history, modernizes the Arena without losing the "soul of the bowl" – the atmosphere that has made UD Arena one of the best places to watch college basketball in the country.

#TRENDING
•    Obi Toppin was named Atlantic 10 Conference co-Player of the Week after leading Dayton to its season-opening 86-81 win over Indiana State last Saturday.  Toppin scored a career-high 29 points and added 12 rebounds.  Toppin was 10 of 16 FG, 8 of 11 FT, and had six dunks.
•    His performance capped a week where he was named to both the James Naismith Trophy and Lute Olson Award Watch Lists for national player of the year.  The Preseason First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection is also on the Karl Malone Award Watch List, which goes to the top collegiate power forward.  Jay Bilas also lists him as his top breakout candidate this year.
•    One week into the season, Toppin's 29.0 scoring average is third nationally. (Yes, we know it's only one game for him.)
•    Jalen Crutcher (14 points), Ryan Mikesell (12) and Rodney Chatman (also 12) also scored in double digits in the Indiana State win.
•    Ibi Watson had the best +/- rating in the Indiana State win (+11).  Watson played 20 minutes off the bench.
•    Trey Landers scored seven points (including the game-clinching FT's) vs. ISU.
•    UD's 10 turnovers per game (again, we realize it's only one game) is best in the nation.
•    Dayton is 2-for-2 on sellouts this season for the first two games of the year.  UD has also already announced that future games against St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis and Rhode Island are sold out.  The Arena record for sellouts in a season is eight set in 1969-70 and 2018-19.
•    UD announced on Nov. 11 that 6-9 center Moulaye Sissoko, the only scholarship freshman on the team this year, will be a developmental redshirt for the 2019-20 season.
•    The Flyers signed three players during the early signing period -- 6-6 wing R.J. Blakney, 6-6 guard Koby Brea and 6-4 guard Luke Frazier.

•    Dayton remains home, meeting Omaha on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. ET.
