UD Looking For Its Sixth A-10 Road Win Of The Season

DAYTON -- The University of Dayton Flyers are back on the road Tuesday when they travel to New England to play the UMass Minutemen.  Game time is 7 p.m. ET.  Dayton is 18-9 this season, and is in third place in the A-10 with a 10-4 record.  The Flyers took the first meeting between the two teams 72-67 in Dayton on Jan. 13.   UD's losses are to teams with a combined record of 172-71 (.704 winning percentage).

The game will carried by WHIO Radio, televised on NESN+, and streamed on ESPN+.  Streaming audio, streaming video and stats will be available at DaytonFlyers.com.

THE NEARLY-TRANSFORMED UD ARENA
The University of Dayton is past the halfway point of a $72 million renovation of its Arena. The transformation of University of Dayton Arena will occur in three phases – from 2017 to 2019.
Phase II included new entrances on three of the four sides, a new box office, new seats in the 300 and 400 levels on the east side and a new and expanded concourse on the east side.

#TRENDING
•    Obi Toppin was named A-10 Rookie of the Week this week, after a pair of double-doubles in wins over Davidson and Saint Louis.  He has five A-10 weekly honors this year, the most of any player in the league this season.
•    Toppin is fourth in the nation in field goal percentage, behind Gonzaga's Brandon Clarke, Duke's Zion Williamson and Holy Cross' Jehve Floyd. Toppin is shooting .664 (155-235).
•    Toppin's 66 dunks are tied with Chris Wright for the UD single-season record set in 2009-10.  The 66 dunks are also third in D-I this season, five behind Daniel Gafford of Arkansas, and one behind Texas' Jaxon Hayes.
•    Josh Cunningham's free throw with 2.2 seconds left lifted Dayton to a 74-73 win at Davidson last Tuesday, snapping the Wildcats' 17-game home court winning streak.
•    Cunningham is ninth in FG% (.637, 135-212).   No other team has two in the top 20, and only one other (Gonzaga) has two in the top 25.  Cunningham has made his last 11 shots.
•    Dayton is fourth in the NCAA (behind Gonzaga, South Dakota State and Tennessee) and leads the Atlantic 10 in FG% (.502, 721-1436).  UD shot .633 (31-49) at Rhode Island.
•    The Flyers have found themselves behind 10 points or more and battled back to take a lead in eight games this year.  They have come back from double-digit second-half deficits to win three times (at GW, at SBU and Duquesne at home) this year.
•    Jalen Crutcher is second in the A-10 in assists (5.6). He is only one of two players in the A-10's top ten in assists, assist-to-turnover ratio (2nd, 2.2), 3-pt. FG per game (7th, 2.3),  3-pt. FG% (.373, 62-166) and minutes (8th, 36.2).  Richmond's Jacob Gilyard is the other.
•    The Flyers matched last year's win total (14) before Feb. 1.

UP NEXT
