EVANSTON, Ill.  –The University of Dayton women's basketball team fell in the first round of the WNIT, 74-51 at Northwestern Thursday night.

The Flyers (17-14) finish up their postseason run while the Wildcats (17-14) move on to face Toledo in the next round.

1st quarter – Dayton went scoreless over the final 6:12 of the quarter while Northwestern rode an 8-0 run to push the margin to double digits.

1STÂ Quarter: Dayton 6, Northwestern 17
- The host Wildcats were the first to strike and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but a three by junior Jayla Scaife put the Flyers on top.
- Dayton then went on a two minute scoring drought as Northwestern pulled ahead 9-3.
- Another Scaife three ended the skid and pulled UD within a possession.
- Midway through the quarter, Dayton trailed 13-6.
- Dayton was forced to call a timeout with 3:39 to play to try and stop an 8-0 Northwestern run as the hosts led by 11. Â

2nd Quarter: Dayton 17, Northwestern 39
- Dayton's first nine points in the game came from a Scaife three as she hit another to start the second.
- Both teams struggled over the next few minutes, entering the media timeout with a 19-9 deficit.
- Northwestern woke up for another run over a 1:10 stretch to extend its lead to 30-10 with just over three minutes to play.
- UD was forced to call a timeout with 2:27 on the clock as NU led by 22.
- The first Flyer to score besides Scaife came with a minute left in the second quarter on a runner by redshirt junior Shakeela Fowler.
- The quarter ended with the Wildcats holding a 22-point lead.

3rd Quarter: Dayton 34, Northwestern 59
- Senior Lauren Cannatelli hit a three out of the locker room to get things going for Dayton in the second half.
- Dayton hung with Northwestern for the most part, trading buckets back and forth in the first half of the third quarter.
- At the media break, UD trailed NU 50-25.
- The Flyers put together a run of five straight points to try and fight their way back into the game.
- Six different Flyers scored in the quarter.
4th Quarter: Dayton 51, Northwestern 74
- The Flyers outscored the Wildcats 8-6 in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter.
- Despite the margin in the game, Dayton showed real fight on both ends of the floor, continuing to pressure Northwestern.
- Midway through the quarter, it was a 22-point game at 66-44. The Flyers outscored the Wildcats 10-7 in the fourth up to that point.
- Northwestern suffered from its own drought, going 0-for-7 over a 2:21 skid.
- Scaife reached the 20+ point mark in the fourth.
