Men's Basketball Closes Regular Season Saturday Night At Duquesne

Flyers Have Already Reached 20 Wins For the 35th Time In School History

DAYTON -- The University of Dayton Flyers will wrapup the 2018-19 regular season Saturday, March 9 when they travel to Pittsburgh to play Duquesne.  Game time is 7 p.m. ET.  Dayton is 20-10 this season, and in third place in the A-10.  Four of UD's five losses in conference play were decided in the last minute, and are by a total of 12 points.

The game will carried by WHIO Radio and streamed on ESPN+.  Streaming audio, streaming video and stats will be available at DaytonFlyers.com.

THE NEARLY-TRANSFORMED UD ARENA
The University of Dayton is past the halfway point of a $72 million renovation of its Arena. The transformation of University of Dayton Arena will occur in three phases – from 2017 to 2019.
Phase II included new entrances on three of the four sides, a new box office, new seats in the 300 and 400 levels on the east side and a new and expanded concourse on the east side.

#TRENDING
•    UD's two seniors -- Josh Cunningham and Jack Westerfield -- scored the last two baskets of the Flyers' Senior Night win over La Salle on Wednesday.  Dayton outscored La Salle 45-21 in the second half to win 70-39 and clinch a double bye in next week's A-10 tournament.
•    Obi Toppin broke the Flyer record for dunks in a season with the first of six he had on the night at UMass (four came on consecutive possessions).  Chris Wright's old record was 66, and Toppin now has 78, which is second in the nation (three behind Arkansas' Daniel Gafford).
•    Toppin has six A-10 weekly honors this year, the most of anyone in the A-10 this season.
•    Toppin is fourth in the nation in field goal percentage, behind Gonzaga's Brandon Clarke Duke's Zion Williamson and Liberty's Scottie James. Toppin is shooting .675 (181-268).
•    Josh Cunningham had a string of 18 consecutive field goals made (over three games) broken late in the UMass game.  That 18 ties the second-longest mark in school history (with Sean Finn).  Cunningham already owns the UD record of 22 set last year.
•    Cunningham is eighth in FG% (.645, 149-233).   No other team has two in the top 15, and only one other (Gonzaga) has two in the top 20.
•    Dayton is fourth in the NCAA (behind Gonzaga, Georgia Southern and South Dakota State) and leads the Atlantic 10 in FG% (.504, 821-1629).  UD shot .633 (31-49) at Rhode Island.
•    Mikesell leads the team in +/- (+7.23 per game.) After scoring 20 points once in the first 70 games of his Flyer career, he has four in his last 13 games.
•    The Flyers have found themselves behind 10 points or more and battled back to take a lead in nine games this year.  They have come back from double-digit second-half deficits to win three times (at GW, at SBU and Duquesne at home) this year.

UP NEXT
•    The Atlantic 10 Championship tournament will be at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn March 13-17.   Dayton will play in the second session of Friday's quarterfinals.  Game time will be determined on if the Flyers are second or third seed of the tournament.
