Softball Holds Off Saint Joseph's, 5-4; Game Two Postponed Due To Rain

Ehrenborg Sets New Program RBI Record (49) After Second-Inning Grand Slam

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team claimed its 10th Atlantic 10 Conference win of the season, 5-4, over Saint Joseph's Saturday afternoon at UD Softball Stadium. With the win, the Flyers earned their seventh-consecutive appearance in the A-10 Championship to be held May 8-11 in Amherst, Massachusetts. Today's second game was postponed due to rain and will be resumed tomorrow at 11 a.m.

Dayton improves to 23-24 overall and now has a 10-6 mark in league play. Saint Joseph's moves to 25-22 on the season and 12-9 in conference games.

Winning Pitcher: Jessica Gilliam (11-9) - one earned run on six hits with seven strikeouts to one walk (7.0 IP)
Losing Pitcher: Ashley Ventura (13-15) - five earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts to two walks. (6.0 IP)
Notable: prior to today's game, Dayton welcomed back several alumnae for its 40-year celebration and former player and coach Jodi Curnutte Eickemeyer threw out the ceremonial first pitch

• 49 - sophomore Abby Ehrenborg set a new program single-season RBI (49) record after knocking out the game-winning grand slam in the second inning
• 7 - Gilliam tallied her seventh complete game of the season after striking out seven SJU batters
• 4 - Ehrenborg recorded four RBI, her 11th multiple RBI game of the season and fourth four-RBI game of the year

Game two of today's doubleheader is set to resume at 11 a.m. Sunday with the third game of the series to follow after at UD Softball Stadium. The Flyers will celebrate its seniors between games during their Senior Day recognition. Admission is free.
