DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returns home to host Davidson Thursday, Jan. 14 at 5 p.m. at UD Arena in Atlantic 10 action.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is 5-1 on the year and winners of four straight, sitting in first place in the A-10 standings with a 4-0 record. The Flyers are 2-1 at home this season.
Head coach
Shauna Green is in her fifth season in charge of the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year last season, her second time at UD.
As a team, the Flyers are averaging 65.2 points per game and holding opponents to 53.3 points each outing. Dayton is shooting 42.2 percent overall, 30.9 percent from three point range, and 68.3 percent from the free throw line. UD has a +9.7 rebounding margin as well.
Dayton is led by redshirt senior
Erin Whalen with 14.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while fellow senior
Jenna Giacone is adding 10.8 points and shooting 44.1 percent from the field.
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson plays its third straight road game and sits at 6-5 on the year and 3-2 in A-10 play. The Wildcats have lost two in a row, but prior to that had won six consecutive games.
Head coach Gayle Fulks is in her fourth season at Davidson and holds a career record of 51-53.
This year, the Wildcats are scoring 67.5 points each contest and giving up 70.4 to opposing squads. Davidson is shooting 40.5 percent from the floor, 32.2 percent from behind the arc, and 67.3 percent from the charity stripe. The Wildcats are being outrebounded and committing more turnovers this season.
Leading Davidson is Chloe Welch with 16.0 points and a 48.9 shooting percentage. Suzi-Rose Deegan is contributing 11.7 points per game as well.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton won its fourth game in a row with a 67-54 win at George Washington Sunday afternoon. The Flyers had a big second half and remained unbeaten in A-10 play. Redshirt senior

Davidson suffered a 62-44 defeat at Rhode Island Sunday, moving to 3-2 in league games. The Wildcats led early on, but struggled in the second and fourth quarters, scoring just eight points in each. Suzi-Rose Deegan had a team-high 19 points in the effort.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Davidson have met seven times in their short history with the Flyers winning all seven match-ups. UD won last year's meeting 55-49 in North Carolina.
STATISTICAL RANKINGS
This season the Flyers rank 10th in the nation in field goal percentage defense and 14th in scoring defense. UD is also 29th in rebound margin and 43rd in blocked shots. Individually,

COOK NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Dayton freshman
Makira Cook was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Jan. 4 after averaging 11.0 points and shooting 61.5 percent from the field. She highlighted the week with an 18-point performance against St. Bonaventure.
PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll behind conference favorites VCU and ahead of Saint Louis, Davidson, Duquesne, and Fordham. The Flyers received two first-place votes.

Araion Bradshaw was named Third Team and All-Defensive Team. Junior
Kyla Whitehead joined Bradshaw on the Third Team as well.
SHORTENED NON-CONFERENCE PLAY
The Flyers only had two non-conference games and no exhibition contests due to COVID concerns. Dayton opened the season at Morehead State on Nov. 25Â with a victory before dropping the home opener to Akron on Dec. 6.
BRADSHAW HELPS START ATHLETES DRIVING CHANGE
Redshirt senior
Araion Bradshaw was one of a few Atlantic 10 women's basketball players to start Athletes Driving Change, a minority female, student-run organization dedicated to racial and social injustice on campuses in the A-10. Their mission is to create change through education, action, and service. Bradshaw also serves on the A-10 Commission on Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
70'S THE MAGIC NUMBER
Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 171-21 (.895) when scoring 70 or more points, including 11-1 in 2016-17. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2019-20 when reaching that mark.
