GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Dayton women's basketball team battled the University of Florida on the road Wednesday afternoon and suffered a tough 60-57 loss despite a fourth-quarter rally.
The Flyers (6-3) end their three-game winning streak and the Gators (8-3) earned their eighth win of the year.

th quarter – 22 seconds – Dayton had the ball with 22 seconds left and down three, but were unable to get the game-tying field goal as Florida was able to run out the clock.
1st Quarter: Dayton 19, Florida 17
- Dayton had the first four shot attempts in the game, but it was Florida that would score first at the 8:27 mark.
- Senior Kyla Whitehead put the Flyers on the board with an and-one.
- By the media break, the host Flyers rode a 7-0 run over 1:13 capped off by a three by graduate student Jenna Giacone to put UD up 12-11.
- Giacone followed the break with another three before a couple of free throws put UD up 17-13 with under three to play.
- The Flyers held a narrow lead after the first.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 30, Florida 40
- UD added to its lead early on with a three and a layup from sophomore Makira Cook.
- Florida was able to take the lead at the 7:15 mark, 26-24 with a 7-0 run of its own over one minute.
- Midway through the second, the score was 28-26 in favor of Dayton.
- Dayton was forced to call a timeout with 3:28 to play as Florida took a 35-28 lead with a 9-0 run.
- The Gators went on a run the rest of the quarter and led by 10 at the half.
- UD shot 46 percent while Florida shot 50 percent.
- The Flyers were outrebounded 22-11 in the first half.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 44, Florida 54
- The Flyers got a couple of defensive stops to start the have and used a 6-0 run to climb back within a few possessions, 42-36 with just over 7:00 to play in the quarter.
- Florida called a timeout at the 6:38 mark after graduate student Araion Bradshaw drew a charge to keep momentum in Dayton's favor and continue a three minute Gator scoring drought.
- That score remained at the media timeout.
- The Flyers were forced to call a timeout themselves at the 3:15 mark as the Gators pulled ahead 50-38 with a 7-0 run.
4th Quarter: Dayton 57, Florida 60
- The Flyers scored the first six points of the fourth to narrow the gap to six at 54-50 in the opening two and a half minutes of action.
- Senior Kyla Whitehead joined Cook and Giacone as double-digit scorers with 14 points in the game.
- Bradshaw nailed a three with 5:47 to play to cut the margin to one, 54-53.
- A steal and drive by Cook put Dayton back on top at the 3:11 mark, 55-54.
- Florida didn't get its first points until the 1:49 mark with a layup as Dayton had outscored them 11-0 up to that point.
- The Gators led with 22 seconds remaining and Flyers had possession, down three, but they were unable to convert.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Kyla Whitehead had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while going 6-of-9.

Makira Cook had a team-high 20 points.
30 to 28 – The Flyers matched the Gators with 30 points in the paint to UF's 28.
