RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Dayton women's basketball team earned an 85-70 victory over No. 8 seed La Salle in the Atlantic 10 Championship Quarterfinals Friday morning.
The Flyers (14-2) continue their season while the Explorers (12-14) end with a loss.

Start of 3rd – Dayton went on an 11-2 run to pull away from La Salle and never looked back.

st Quarter: Dayton 26, La Salle 14
- Dayton jumped out to an 8-3 lead with a pair of threes from redshirt senior Erin Whalen.
- The Flyers used a 10-0 run over 1:43 to lead 12-3 and force an Explorer timeout at the 7:22 mark.
- La Salle came out of the timeout though and made it a three-point game at 12-9 with a 6-0 run midway through the first.
- Dayton answered with an 8-0 run over the next two minutes to pull back ahead 20-9 with 3:29 to play.
- The Flyers continued to lead by double digits after 10 minutes.

- UD earned three quick fouls in the first minute of the second quarter.

- By the media break, Dayton held a 33-26 lead over La Salle.
- Whalen put the Flyers back up double-digits with a runner at the 3:10 mark, 37-26.
- La Salle banked a three at the buzzer to close the gap to five.
- The Flyers shot 48 percent in the first half and held the Explorers to 27 percent.
- UD had 28 points in the paint to La Salle's six.

rd Quarter: Dayton 65, La Salle 56
- The Flyers jumped out on an 8-3 run to start the third to keep hold of the advantage.
- A layup by junior Kyla Whitehead off the assist by Giacone put the Flyers up 13 and forced a La Salle timeout with 5:10 on the clock.
- The Flyers were riding an 8-0 run going into the final three minutes of the third.
- Dayton managed to take a nine-point lead into the final 10 minutes.
- Four Flyers had double-digits through three quarters.

th Quarter: Dayton 85, La Salle 70
- Freshman Capria Brown started the fourth quarter with back-to-back baskets including a three for the Flyers.
- Dayton rode a 9-run to take an 18-point lead over La Salle in the first 2:30 of the fourth.
- At the media timeout, the Flyers were on a 2:24 scoring drought, but still had a 76-63 advantage.
- In the end, La Salle just did not have enough firepower to catch Dayton.
