DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team dropped two games to visiting Morehead State Wednesday by a combined margin of two runs. The non-conference doubleheader was played April 7 at UD Softball Stadium.
Dayton is now 11-16 on the season while Morehead State moves to 9-20 overall.
GAME ONE
Morehead State 4, Dayton 3 (8 inn.)
• 8 - this was Dayton's 16 game with eight or more hits this season
Winning Pitcher: Lennon Spicer (6-11), 8.0 IP with two earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts
Losing Pitcher:
Kelsey Gumm (2-5), 2.0 IP with zer0 earned runs on three hits with one strikeout
GAME TWO
Morehead State 7, Dayton 6
• 6 - Dayton fell behind 7-0 but its comeback fell short with six unanswered runs
• 2 - junior
Alyssa Cacini knocked out two, two-run home runs in the comeback bid
• 2 - three Flyers tallied multi-hit games
Winning Pitcher: Spicer (7-11), 4.0 IP with two earned runs on five hits and two strikeouts
Losing Pitcher:
Catherine Jensen (0-1), 3.0 IP with five earned runs on five hits with one strikeout
UP NEXT
Dayton will return to Atlantic 10 Conference play with a four-game series at George Washington this coming weekend. The series will get underway Saturday, April 10 with a 12 p.m. doubleheader at GW Softball Field. Sunday will also feature a 12 p.m. doubleheader between the Flyers and Colonials.
