PHILADELPHIA - George Washington claimed the 2021 Atlantic 10 Softball title with two wins over Dayton on Championship Saturday at SJU Softball Field. The Colonials outlasted the Flyers 3-2 in nine innings in the day's first game followed by a 7-2 in the nightcap to claim the postseason tournament title.
Dayton closes out its 2021 season with a 21-26 overall record as runner-up in the conference championship while George Washington (37-9) claims its first out-right A-10 Championship title and automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
GAME ONE
George Washington 3, Dayton 2 (9 inn.)
• 2 - senior
Abby Ehrenborg and freshman
Megan Ward each tallied two hits in the seven-hit game for the Flyers
• 2 - Ehrenborg collected two RBI on her game-tying, two-run single in the seventh
Winning Pitcher: Sierra Lange (20-8) - 9.0 IP, two earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts to one walk
Losing Pitcher:
Sarah Bailitz (4-8) - 5.0 IP, one earned run on five hits with one strikeout to six walks
GAME TWO
George Washington 7, Dayton 2
• 4 - Ehrenborg was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored
• 2 - two of Ehrenborg hits were home runs. She finished the season with 18 home runs equaling the single-season program record
Winning Pitcher: Lange (21-8) - 5.0 IP, one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts to two walks
Losing Pitcher:
Addy Bullis (13-7) - 1.2 IP, three earned runs on five hits with zero strikeouts to two walks
