DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team returned home, facing off against Northern Kentucky University Thursday evening where the Flyers fell 82-78.

The Flyers (0-4) still look for their first win of the season while the Norse (2-1) earned their second victory.

2OT – NKU outscored Dayton 9-5 in the final period of the contest, enough to clinch the game.

 GAME BREAKDOWN
1^st Quarter: Dayton 22, Northern Kentucky 16

• With 5:18 left in the first quarter, the Flyers led the Norse 12-2, forcing a 3:40 scoring drought for the Norse.
• Dayton had six total rebounds while NKU had 0.
• Sophomore Shannon Wheeler and redshirt senior Maliya Perry both score six points in the quarter
• Dayton is out rebounded NKU 11-2, dominating the paint as well with 16 points in the paint.

2^nd Quarter: Dayton 35, Northern Kentucky 31

• Northern Kentucky buckled up on defense and scored two three point baskets by Igo and Davis followed with a basket by Igo as well to put the Norse on an 8-2 run with 6:09 in the quarter.
• Senior Mariah Perez is leading the team with four rebounds with Wheeler close behind with three.
• Junior Anyssa Jones and redshirt junior Destiny Bohanan score two baskets late to ensure Dayton keeps the lead heading into the half.
• At the half, Wheeler leads the team with 10 points, Perez leads the team in rebounds with six and Bohanon leads the team in assists with four.
• The Flyers outrebounded the Norse 21 to 13.
• The Flyers beat the Norse in the paint 22-12.

3^rd Quarter: Dayton 54, Northern Kentucky 51

• With 4:31 left in the 3rd quarter, three Flyers had double-digit points, Jones led with 12 and Wheeler with 11 and Bohanan with 10. 
• At the media timeout, Dayton held a mere lead at 46-44. 
• Perez is holding down the paint with nine rebounds while the Flyers lead the Norse in that category 26-22. 
• Big play with 1:54 left in the quarter as Bohanan draws a foul with a bucket to give the Flyers a three-point lead after being tied for the first time since around the start of the game.
• At the end of the quarter, Dayton was leading with points in the paint with 34 in comparison to Northern Kentucky's 18. 
• Dayton took a three-point lead heading into the final quarter.

4^th Quarter: Dayton 67, Northern Kentucky 67

• Northern Kentucky ties the game with a dagger three-point basket at the opening of the quarter.
• The Norse continued their run and took a 60-56 lead over the Flyers with 5:52 left in the game.
• With a little under four minutes left in the game, Bohanon nailed a three-point basket to put her at the 20 point mark for the game, followed by a Perez basket to make her the fourth Flyer in the double digits.
• The Flyers went on a 6-0 run and a timeout is called by Northern Kentucky with 2:03 left in the game.
• Timeout by Northern Kentucky with 29.3 seconds left in the game, the game was tied at 67. 
• For the second straight home game, the Flyers were going to overtime.

Overtime: Dayton 73, Northern Kentucky 73

• Northern Kentucky calls a timeout after a defensive stand and takes the lead 73-71 with 46.6 seconds left in overtime.
• Bohanan scores a massive bucket off a layup with 2.8 seconds left in overtime to tie the game.

2nd Overtime: Dayton 78, Northern Kentucky 82

• Dayton came out firing, scoring back-to-back baskets to give them a four-point lead over Northern Kentucky with a little over three minutes to go in the game.
• Timeout Flyers with 36.1 seconds left in the game trailing 80-78.
