DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team returned home, facing off against Northern Kentucky University Thursday evening where the Flyers fell 82-78.
The Flyers (0-4) still look for their first win of the season while the Norse (2-1) earned their second victory.

GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 22, Northern Kentucky 16
- With 5:18 left in the first quarter, the Flyers led the Norse 12-2, forcing a 3:40 scoring drought for the Norse.
- Dayton had six total rebounds while NKU had 0.
- Sophomore Shannon Wheeler and redshirt senior Maliya Perry both score six points in the quarter
- Dayton is out rebounded NKU 11-2, dominating the paint as well with 16 points in the paint.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 35, Northern Kentucky 31
- Northern Kentucky buckled up on defense and scored two three point baskets by Igo and Davis followed with a basket by Igo as well to put the Norse on an 8-2 run with 6:09 in the quarter.
- Senior Mariah Perez is leading the team with four rebounds with Wheeler close behind with three.
- Junior Anyssa Jones and redshirt junior Destiny Bohanan score two baskets late to ensure Dayton keeps the lead heading into the half.
- At the half, Wheeler leads the team with 10 points, Perez leads the team in rebounds with six and Bohanon leads the team in assists with four.
- The Flyers outrebounded the Norse 21 to 13.
- The Flyers beat the Norse in the paint 22-12.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 54, Northern Kentucky 51
- With 4:31 left in the 3rd quarter, three Flyers had double-digit points, Jones led with 12 and Wheeler with 11 and Bohanan with 10.
- At the media timeout, Dayton held a mere lead at 46-44.
- Perez is holding down the paint with nine rebounds while the Flyers lead the Norse in that category 26-22.
- Big play with 1:54 left in the quarter as Bohanan draws a foul with a bucket to give the Flyers a three-point lead after being tied for the first time since around the start of the game.
- At the end of the quarter, Dayton was leading with points in the paint with 34 in comparison to Northern Kentucky's 18.

- With a little under four minutes left in the game, Bohanon nailed a three-point basket to put her at the 20 point mark for the game, followed by a Perez basket to make her the fourth Flyer in the double digits.
