MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's tennis team defeated Youngstown State 5-2 Friday night at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg. It marks 17 straight wins at home for the Flyers, with sophomore
Ronit Hiryur coming up with his team-leading tenth win of the season to clinch the match for UD.

"Very happy with our play tonight," head coach
Ryan Meyer said. "We played very well at No. 1 doubles and found a way to win at No. 3, even saved a few match points. Getting that doubles point gave us momentum into singles and the boys did not disappoint. We didn't let up on any court and was happy with our overall performance. Now we prepare for Ball State and Northern Illinois."

The victory is the fifth consecutive win for Dayton and the team's record now sits at 5-3 on the season. Youngstown State falls to 0-3 in 2022 with the loss.

Dayton opened the match with a win in the doubles point, with juniors
Max DeCurtins and
Matt DeMarco taking the win in No. 1 doubles over Laurentiu Mandocescu and David Alvarez Moreno 6-4. Youngstown State took No. 2 doubles, leaving the point down to senior
Will Harper and junior
Connor Bruce on Court Three. The pair survived three match points, rallying to defeat Nathan Favier and Clement Mainguy 7-6.

The Flyers moved into singles play up 1-0 and
Matt DeMarco made it 2-0 in No. 3 singles. The junior won in straight sets over Javi Pla 6-4, 6-1 to extend the lead. Bruce scored the third point for Dayton in the top singles flight over Laurentiu Mandocescu. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native won 6-3, 6-4.

Hiryur secured the win for UD in No. 2 singles against Nathan Favier. The sophomore also won in straight sets for Dayton 6-2, 6-4. Freshman
Eric Perkowski finished the scoring for the Flyers with a win on Court Six, winning 7-5, 7-6 over Will Everett.

The Flyers will remain at home to take on Ball State next Saturday. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. at South Regency Tennis Center.
