DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team remains at home midweek to host Davidson College Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at UD Arena.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton continues Atlantic 10 play with a 2-12 record overall and 1-2 league mark. The Flyers have recorded both their wins in the last four contests and will look to add to that against the Wildcats.
Head coach
Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her first season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.
As a team this year, the Flyers are averaging 65.4 points per game while giving up 70.5 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 40.9 percent overall, 34.0 percent from three point range, and 73.1 percent from the free throw line. The Flyers benefit from a +5.5 rebounding margin.
Dayton is led by redshirt junior
Destiny Bohanon with 12.7 points per game while senior
Mariah Perez is chipping in 10.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest and
Sydney Freeman is contributing 10.1 points and 4.5 assists each outing.
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson comes to UD with a 7-6 record on the year and 0-1 A-10 mark. The Wildcats have not played since Jan. 1 and return to action after a 10-day break. Davidson is 3-5 on the road this year.
Head coach Gayle Fulks is in her sixth season in charge of the Wildcats.
As a team, the Wildcats are scoring 62.1 points each contest and allowing 63.3 points to opposing teams. Davidson is shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 30.6 percent from behind the arc, and 70.6 percent from the charity stripe. DC has to overcome negative turnover and rebounding margins however.
Davidson is led by Elle Sutphin with 17.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while Suzi-Rose Deegan is adding 13.5 points and 6.5 boards per contest.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton hosted Fordham on Sunday and suffered an 82-66 loss to the Rams on CBS Sports Network. The Flyers led by as much as 10 in the contest, but was unable to hold on after giving up 49 second-half points.
Davidson last played on New Year's Day, also against Fordham on CBS Sports, falling 64-67. The Wildcats led after the first quarter, but was outscored in the remaining three quarters in the loss. Suzi-Rose Deegan had a team-high 19 points and eight rebounds.
SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Davidson are meeting for the 12th time in program history with the Flyers holding an unbeaten record in the series at 11-0. The Flyers and Wildcats met last year in the Atlantic 10 Championship quarterfinals with UD coming out on top in overtime 60-55.
STATISTICAL RANKINGS
As a team, Dayton ranks 31st in the nation in defensive rebounds per game and 40th in total rebounding. Individually,
Sydney Freeman ranks 68th in the country in assists per game.
