Women's Basketball Heads To St. Bonaventure Thursday

The Flyers Look To Move To .500 In A-10 Play

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team remains on the road this week to take on St. Bonaventure University Thursday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. in Olean, N.Y.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the contest with a 3-13 record overall this year and 2-3 Atlantic 10 mark. The Flyers are 1-5 on the road this year and looking to get to .500 in conference play.

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her first season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

As a team this year, the Flyers are averaging 65.6 points per game and giving up 70.4 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 41.0 percent overall, 34.5 percent from three point range, and 71.7 percent from the free throw line. UD benefits from a +4.6 rebounding margin as well.

Dayton is led by redshirt junior Destiny Bohanon with 12.9 points per game while senior Mariah Perez is adding 11.0 points and 8.3 rebounds each outing. Senior Sydney Freeman and sophomore Arianna Smith are contributing double-digit points as well.

SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
The Bonnies hosts the Flyers with three wins on the season themselves. St. Bonaventure sits at the bottom of the A-10 standings with an 0-5 conference mark and nine-game losing streak. SBU is 2-6 at home this season.

Interim head coach Erica Morrow is in her first game in charge of the Bonnies after a leadership change with the program announced this week.

As a team, the Bonnies are scoring 50.2 points each contest and allowing 64.5 points to opposing squads. SBU is shooting 33.3 percent from the floor, 26.9 percent from behind the arc, and 66.4 percent from the charity stripe. The Bonnies face -8.6 rebounding and -3.2 turnover margins.

Leading the way for St. Bonaventure is I'Yanna Lops with 10.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while Nadechka Laccen is chipping in 8.2 points per game. The Bonnies have had 12 different players make at least one start this year already.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton went on the road Sunday and suffered an 80-69 loss to Saint Louis in its second national TV game of the season. The Flyers led with five minutes remaining in the game, but went cold from the field down the stretch. Destiny Bohanon had a team-high 17 points in the effort.

St. Bonaventure dropped a road contest at Davidson Saturday, 73-39. The Bonnies scored just four points in the opening quarter and were never able to recover. Breauna Ware had team highs with 13 points and six boards.

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and St. Bonaventure have played 31 times previously with the Flyers holding a 21-10 advantage in the series. UD has won the last seven meetings including a 90-43 victory last outing on Jan. 4, 2022.

STATISTICAL RANKINGS
As a team, Dayton ranks 35th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game and 38th in total rebounding. The Flyers are also 63rd in the country in three point percentage, ranking second in the A-10.

The Flyers return home to host Massachusetts for their third nationally televised game of the season. Tip-off is at noon on ESPNU at UD Arena.
